I read Brighter Than Scale, Swifter Than Flame by Neon Yang. A sapphic story about a dragonslayer who lost herself trying to belong and the ruler of a country sympathetic to dragons. A wonderfully crafted tale that explores identity, love, and the armor we put on to protect ourselves. #booksky

I read Invasive Species by Ellery Adams, narrated by Courtney Patterson. In 1980s Long Island, an affluent neighborhood grapples with jealousy, competition, and a species whose hunger may destroy everything else. Great if you dig classic 80s Real Housewives mixed with horror monsters! #booksky
I read Moss'd in Space by Rebecca Thorne, narrated in dual style by Natalie Naudus and Dylan Reilly Fitzpatrick. Cozy-adjacent scifi with a big focus on the friendship between a human pilot and a sentient moss/spaceship. #booksky
I read The Winter Folk by Jen Julian, which I received as a physical ARC copy in a random mystery box from Locus Magazine. It releases on July 21st in ebook, physical, and audiobook formats. Really recommend this if dark fantasy and fairytales are your vibe! #booksky

Eeeeee my Dragon's Den pretties from @peculiarityshop.bsky.social have arrived!! I'm so excited. I am already planning to wear the necklace to a Paris Paloma concert I have tickets for in October.
While usually I read speculative fiction, I occasionally delve into contemporary romance that doesn't involve any fantasy or incredible or spooky elements. ;-) This just arrived and I'm excited to get into it! True to Your Boots by Lexie Sloane. #booksky
I read "Dead Weight" by Hildur Knútsdóttir, translated and narrated by Mary Robinette Kowal. Absolutely amazing novella about friendships we didn't even know we needed, the cleverness of cats, and getting away with literal murder. #booksky #deadweight #supportwomenswrongs

#TheStorygraph April reading wrap up! Five short stories, two novellas, seven novels. A couple disappointments but then some really amazing reads, so the average rating is still solid. #booksky
I read "Year of the Mer" by LD Lewis. Audiobook narrated by Janina Edwards. A dark and bloody and messy sequel (of sorts) to the Little Mermaid, where Arielle’s choices had consequences that echo down generations and across kingdoms. It's part 1 of a duology and ends on HARD cliffhanger! #booksky
I read Japanese Gothic by Kylie Lee Baker, narrated by Natalie Naudus. An interwoven story of two people, separated by centuries but linked by a house and the emotional impact of familial trauma. Who's dead, what's real, and what the hell is going on in this house? Creepy, mysterious, emotional.

I read Wolf Worm by T.Kingfisher, audiobook narrated by Mary Robinette Kowal. Horror novel set in the early 1900s in a small North Carolina town. *Classic* Kingfisher vibe and protagonist. Content warning for bugs. So many bugs. Especially necrophagous/carnivorous ones. Don't read while eating?
I read Seasons of Glass and Iron by Amal El-Mohtar, narrated by Rachel Elizabeth Smith. This is a short story collection of works previously released elsewhere over the years (and a couple poems as well). I'd read two already, but the rest were all to me. Loved it. LOVED! #booksky
I read I Love You Don't Die by Jade Song, audiobook narrated by Catherine Ho. This book is a "slice of life" style story focusing on a woman who spends her life obsessed with death. Most of the book is told from her point of view, with occasional chapters from major people in her life. #booksky
