Due to a broken lock gate, the fuel boat won’t even be taking orders for us Limehouse denizens until August 31st (Fortunately we’re well stocked with diesel, propane, and sunlight—along with some oatmeal for baby coots.)
Battersea power station; no pigs on the wings spotted but plenty of shops and flats.
In happier boat news; having some *minor* changes to the Merryweather's kitchen (well, really, pretty major changes, honestly). Gilberto Marqueti (& son) have started the demolition.
Sad news at Limehouse marina; a boat sank right at its mooring. Owner wasn’t there; neighbors rescued his dogs, which were aboard.
So Jeff Goldblum was here in London, playing at the Royal Albert Hall, with his jazz sextet ("The Mildred Snitzer Orchestra") along with a fair-sized actual orchestra. Played Jazz standards, songs from films, and American Songbook tunes, with some female guest vocalists. Met us outside pre-show.
Welp, didn't plan to visit the UK during a record-setting pan-European heatwave, but here we are. On the bright side, pre-ordering an air conditioner was a Good Idea, though it's hard to keep a 60ft narrowboat a uniform temperature.
A rainy day in Limehouse basin (with plenty of duckweed for the, well, ducks.)
Merryweather (right, googley eyed) is back in the water (amid some crowded surroundings at the moment).
Didn't expect this (no, we didn't break the lock, and yes, it's blocking our path back to Limehouse):
Moving the supports (with a couple of 20T jacks) so they can take care of the bits that were covered by them:
