TADC spoilers! watched the finale and had some thoughts on it. really liked a lot of it, and for all the mixed successes I’m glad it exists

things get real shaky after Caine shows back up and the ending feels a bit too tidy, but everything with Jax is going to stick with me. probably the best sequence in the whole series, feels like the reason why goosewor wanted to make this show in the first place.

there'd been hints throughout the show that Jax might be trans, but the way her repression was depicted here was truly painful. two glimpses of her true self trying to break free, both tied irreparably to moments of deep regret and trauma.

of course, a part of me wishes we'd have seen a happier ending for Jax, even just with her IRL self - but she's still repping, still hasn't figured it out. we can hope that she will. but the Jax we know ends up being a representative of the girls who didn't make it, the ones who died quietly without ever being truly known. much like I Saw The TV Glow, Jax's fate is a question that dares the audience to answer it in their own lives. it's a message meant for the ones who need that outstretched hand the most. flawed as the show may be, i'm grateful they were brave enough to not pull that last punch.

namco museum encore (with the display box and memory card stickers) has been something i've wanted for like a decade and they happened to have it there for super cheap!! I was hoping for the complete set but... instead someone loaded it with other namco games and resealed it?? it's so COOL

opened display case for Namco Games Chronicle (aka Namco Museum Encore). instead of the expected namco museum titles, it's been loaded with the following ps1 games:

this one is personal preference but it's also fun to see how editing the config file to force volumetric fog off literally makes this look like a different game. (they use that fog to hide weird low-detail stuff in the environment though, so it's a bit crusty sometimes)
