Back from Tallinn Music Week. One of my favourite cities in the world. Insane underground scene. Beautiful people. Dozens of great bands and less than 20 hours sleep in five days. Hell yeah

I’ve missed some unspectacular ones out but christ on a biddly. One of the best albums I’ve ever heard. Had no idea XTC just kept being great after Skylarking
And two of the worst albums I've ever heard in my life. "G Love and The Special Sauce" and "Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D'Arby". 1001 Albums To Die Before You Hear
Several updates on this; I have listened to a few more /random/ albums from this list. Mixed results. These are classics that I love and enjoyed revisiting. I particularly love Bombs Over Baghdad and Let's Stay Together
I felt it was kind of telling that in a lifetime of listening to fuzzy 90s US indie rock, no one has ever recommended me Sebadoh, and no one has ever told me that they’re one of their favourite bands. This is fine, but certainly not in the Pavement/Berman/GBV leagues
Every time you listen to this it's better than you remember. Angry and funky and silky
Merriweather Post Pavilion. We are back on the right track. I like this album a whole bunch, in spite of how terrible they became. Painting With? Come on now. Treads between immersive psych and general weirdness very well. I forgot how much I genuinely liked it.
And this one, Slippery When Wet by Bon Jovi, is more like 1 album to Die Before You Hear. I knew it would be bad but holy shit
Way worse than you'd think. Elvis' plastic soul shtick is amazing and sincere and beautiful when he sings 'In the Ghetto' but the rest is just tosh.
Yesterday was the first absolute and proper slog. Soundgarden’s Superunknown. Hints of weird guitar lines here and there but mostly sub-Nirvana dirge
Music From Big Pink by The Band. I don’t think this really holds up for me. I think my understanding is that it is pretty ahead of its time in the beige country-folk-rock paradigm but that doesn’t mean there’s anything here for little old me
Today it has thrown up Revolver. That certainly is 1 of 1001 albums you should hear before you die. Taxman is a clanger, but who cares, the rest is perfect. She Said. And Your Bird Can Sing. TMK. H, T, E. Solo on I’m Only Sleeping. Got To Get You Into My Life. The world is not a grey place today.

Anyway, the album I got today was Queen's Sheer Heart Attack and I did not care for it massively. Wasn't out there enough in its experimentation and didn't really land with its pure pop blows. Brighton Rock an all timer, though.
I'm doing the 1001 albums generator / listen to an album from it every day in the hopes of shedding light on some classics I wouldn't otherwise listen to again in my life. Fun fun fun The list of 'worst rated albums' on the aggregator site is very funny to me.
