Had to take a detour on my ride today. Came across this good boy, politely asked him if I could get by. He responded by sitting down and eating some grass.
Easily the funniest part of the @cityofpoco.bsky.social traffic engineering is that they're absolutely rabid fanatics about implementing every traffic calming measure they can, but only if it's targeted at bicycles. Road? Flat, straight, clear Mixed-use path? Bends, curbs, fences, bollards
Older kid is big enough to move to 24" wheels, which means I get a new little mini-restoration project. Wife sourced the beater, kid picked the component colours, now I get to have my fun.
Me, when the bear was a few steps away from being all the way across the bridge: it's probably safe for me to start going up onto the bridge Me, five seconds later when the bear was spooked by something on the other side and charged straight at me at full speed: Oh
Well it finally happened to me: Our utility ebike was stolen. Locked it up in a pretty trafficked area to a standard bike rack with a nice u-lock, but I guess it wasn't quite enough. We've put out all the 529 alerts, but we're not too optimistic about the chances.
6 y.o.: Dada, do you know what I made? Me: That's a Dark Souls Basilisk 6 y.o.: Me: 6 y.o.: it's a froggy
Picked up a book from the local library Took the long way there. Then the longer way home
Easily the funniest part of any Canadian social gathering is that at the end, there's always 2 or 3 of the popular items left. No Canadian will ever take the last piece
"Was not able to provide further details about the cause of the collision" Ok but at some point a motor vehicle ran into a pedestrian, right? Like literally they don't even mention that a car or a truck hit someone? Just that there was a collision, nobody knows how it happened.
They definitely figured out what the problem with this part of the path was and absolutely figured out how to solve it
It's the next morning and I'm still in disbelief about this one. I'm the green line. The light had cycled to red and I had a big ol' crossing signal. I have to dodge and stop mid-way through the intersection while a car blasts through the red light, screeching to a stop at the red line.
"The guy who wrote it's raining tacos has an Emmy" is going to be a fun fact that earns me no friends in among the schoolteachers
I feel like when you get to "Don't listen to music or podcasts if you are walking anywhere" on your list, you should maybe ask whether you're being helpful and providing safety tips, or whether you've lost the real points somewhere along the way.
Rest of family is camping as of today, I still have work tomorrow, and one kid was in daycare while my wife left to set up the campsite. Picked up the kid, took him to the campsite, had dinner, made s'mores, and managed to make it home for bed. Get to ride back on the acoustic after work tomorrow
