Late Friday evening my neighbor invited me to a Saturday matinee of Frida...a self-portrait. What an inspiring play--I love Frida Kahlo, so that was a given, but Vanessa Severo was unfamiliar & wow, can this woman act, write, dance--for 75 mins we were spellbound. #theater #FridaKahlo

I am slowly absorbing Tracy K Smith's new book, Fear Less: Poetry in Perilous Times, appreciating her wisdom. "In order to get to community, we have to go quiet, slow down, allow ourselves to be both vulnerable and brave." She shared this man's insight from her tour, American Conversations. #poetry

A surprise gift today. My brother-in-law knows I love the purple-blooms on the Rose of Sharon in my late sister's garden. This is very close! We've become very close since her death, cheering each other. Far apart, but texting and calling frequently. ❤️#garden

I took a walk on a gorgeous day and while enjoying the fresh air, exercising, smiling at neighbors, I played with different approaches to the scene I'm working on, running mental movies in my mind. This is the delicious pleasure of #writing. No AI invited.

Communicating with my cousin this morning about the memorial for his mum, a smart, funny woman who helped me think through a lot of familial pain, a real support. I am grateful to have known her, to have loved her. It's painful now, but also incredibly sweet to remember. Don't be afraid to love.❤️

Our maritime climate is a dream for gardeners. A dear friend gave me two apothecary rose plants as housewarming gifts, then a City of York climbing rose for my next birthday. She did 1st edit on my books. One apothecary rose & the City of York have survived 28 years of my absent-minded care.
