This is neat - showers and t-storms firing up west of Chicago along the thermal boundary caused by smoke and no-smoke. Weather doing cool things.

All that smoke really put a lid on temperatures. Fell well short of modeled high temperatures today. Not common to miss across the board by this much.

What's with the sky today? Our new summer normal strikes again. Massive amounts of smoke shifting SE from a bunch of big wildfires in central Canada. You can see the smoke and the hot spots on satellite imagery. Note the clear NW to SE movement around the ridiculous central plains heat dome

it's brief (NW flow aloft helps it get here but also cuts it off) but a pulse of heat will break off the central us heat dome and eject into the Northeast and New England Tue/Wed. 850mb temps spike to 22-24C Tue Night. some guidance (euro, nam) pushes values to 25-26C(!). 🔥

some hefty rainfall totals...good soaker Cape-wide but 3 to 6"+ from Mashpee over to Falmouth

SW wind should cap temps in the 80s-90-ish Thursday (still hot) on most of the Cape...but that wind becomes a lighter offshore breeze Friday and that small shift likely means widespread 90s with very high humidity. Hottest day in several years.

Kind of murky to start but the strong June sun is going to work on the fog bank. Watch the holes in the overcast expand as the land starts to heat up. Should mix out most of this gray over the next hour or so

Quite the heat signal for next week. 850 temps pushing 22-24C Wed-Fri. National Blend of Models already sitting at 88, 93, 93, 87 for Wed-Sat at Hyannis with dewpoints in the 70s. ECMWF pushes mid-upper 90s.

Some hefty rainfall totals from those rounds of downpours that crossed the area Mon/Tue. Lots of street flooding resulted near the Canal and another Beachcomber washout (over 4" of rain in Wellfleet!)

Fairly strong low pressure passing well to our north tomorrow...unfortunately not much, if any, rain expected locally but turning rather windy and a bit muggy. Gale watches posted for some of the coastal waters as gusts 30 to 40 mph expected in the afternoon - careful if headed out on the water.

showers will push across the area tonight... not expecting a widespread soaking but maybe a few spots get a good downpour or two. can see this general theme (the localized nature of higher rainfall totals) on the hrrr precip fields. Need the rain.

Few showers in spots this afternoon were associated with a warm front crossing the area. Warmer and more humid air mass building in overnight. First truly humid day of the year coming up tomorrow with dew points 65F-70F. Probably some low clouds / fog to contend with for a time too, as a result

Gusty (kind of annoyingly strong) SW wind off of Buzzards Bay and Nantucket Sound capped temps in the 70s today...and we're back into the 60s this evening. Noticeably warmer off-Cape with readings still in the mid 80s this evening where the SW wind is a land breeze

Feel like the black locust is sort of meh overall but it’s quite nice for about a week in June. Cape is loaded with ‘em and they are fully flowered right now

Actually a touch humid today but drier air rushes in on N and NE winds tonight (preceded by some showers/thunder this evening). Enjoy the refreshing air. These low dew point air masses struggle to take hold during the mid and late summer months.

Couple of loud cracks of thunder last night as a fast-moving line of downpours moved through the area. Additional showers/storms possible this evening.

should be a much better day Sunday (bar is pretty low)...sunshine and milder for a good chunk of the day...but have to watch for some afternoon showers/thunder around the region. Guidance popping off numerous PM showers/t-storms

Pretty quiet right now but a different story midday into the afternoon - very windy, wet and chilly. As the core of strong wind rotates thru, gusts 40 to 55 mph are likely. Some pockets of limb/tree damage, scattered power outages and certainly some messy yards by this evening.

Have been waiting for guidance to back off of a miserable Saturday afternoon...not happening yet. Wet, chilly and very windy. GFS with 50 knot winds aloft on the backside of low pressure.

Really nice day coming up tomorrow (Sunday). Any morning clouds give way to sunshine/blue skies and warm temps. 70-80F around the Cape. Get outside.

Showers and some heavier downpours move through the area tomorrow... drizzle / leftover showers linger into Friday. A good .5 to 1.5 inch rain event seems likely by Fri PM. Today's ecmwf with about 1" locally...1-2+" up toward Boston. Most other guidance with a similar-ish look
