Well now that is were it gets really interesting. This Static claims its been a long time sense he put on the costume. Implying this is the original Static. Which of course calls into question what the deal was with those new DakotaVerse books. But hey new book in a couple weeks will explain all.
Watching the long awaited F.D Signifier video on Tyler Perry. Was super cool to hear him mention Static and how DC comics will one day realize they are sitting on a treasure trove with him. And to know just a couple weeks ago they brought Static back to the main canon. With more soon to come
Thanks to that CNN documentary Chevy Chase discourse is all over my timeline with a whole new generation learning he was always a huge asshole. Now might be a good time to revisit that SNL movie from 2 years back. Chase hated it FYI which is all the approval you will need.
But he is also so much more terrifying, he is the embodiment of America's own twisted worship of wealth & success. A monster with his tentacles in every form of entertainment/tech as to distract people from his crimes. He manages to be Rockefeller,Murdock,Epstein,Theil & Savile all rolled into one.
So Absolute Joker is such a fascinating reinvention of the character one that breaks almost as many rules as the new Absolute Batman does. On one hand he feels like a new fully realized version of what Synder was trying to do with his Pale Man concept from New 52 Batman. 1/2
Batman fans have been eating really good this year when it comes to new original villains. And I love them all for more or less the same reason. They are simple, pulpy and cut great silhouettes.
As Batman comic readers our cups are really running over with greatness right now. Absolute Batman is pushing the style envelope and giving us a cool new blue collar take on the dark knight. Fraction is doing really topical self contained stories 1/2
Makes a lot of sense in a day in age when people are fearing the army being turned on citizens more and more. This is also too when Batman is being written more as a social worker who often buts heads with more and more power tripping dirty cops.
Case in point both the newest runs Action Comics & Captain America tell updated origin stories for their respective hero. Where in both tell a prominent General (Lane/Ross) that they refuse to use their powers as part of the military industrial complex.
Working a bit more on my Christmas/Thor Mashup dnd concept I came up with last holiday season. I call it Age Of Jingle-Bal-Rok Would love it if some of my friends/fellow content creators could be free to play. But it's the holidays so everyone is no doubt gonna be busy.
Remember when you would get a show on VHS and they would sometimes make a big picture. That was pretty cool, I'm kind of obsessed with shows that had full seasons on VHS for the window of time that was a thing.

Watched the first episode of Task tonight. It was probably my most excited for new drama of the year and it did not disappoint. If you loved Mare Of Easttown this will fill that neo noir delco shaped hole in your life.
