The storm band between Westerly and Woonsocket is dumping a couple inches of rain this afternoon. Drive safely.
Recent rainfall is helping to pull Rhode Island out of a drought but we are still moderate in eastern state and abnormal in the western half.
Powerful thunderstorms with winds up to 40 mph are moving into Rhode Island. Rainfall totals with this storm show 1 to 2 inches of rain possible per hour.
