🚀Postdoc in Politecnico di Milano and EIEE/CMCC 🔍 I do research on AI for Vision, Graphics, Economics & Climate Change. 💻 Madrid ↔️ Milano
🌞 I just launched an interactive website exploring the 2026 eclipse, using the pictures I took with a homemade filter, and exploring computational photography and other physics aspects: eclipse2026.carlosrodriguezpardo.es It uses data from the Instituto Geografico Nacional (eclipses.ign.es)
#eclipse From around Gredos, Spain, with an Sony A6400 and a homemade filter. Composition done in python. 🌞🌚🌙
🌍 I'm excited to share the preprint for TerraNova, a foundation model for coupled human–Earth systems, developed with @maxtav.bsky.social . One representation learned from 512 gridded Earth-system fields and 512 national indicators, each in its native geometry.
Excited to be lecturing on AI for Public Policy at the @climatechangeai.bsky.social Virtual Summer School 2026 🌍 5 weeks of lectures + hands-on tutorials, July 19–Aug 22, fully virtual. Registration is now open: www.climatechange.ai/events/summe...
💽 Released today on arXiv: WorldTensor, a global tensor dataset for learning coupled human–Earth systems. 🛰️📈🛫757 harmonized data units across climate, land, emissions, infrastructure, hazards, and socioeconomic systems, all on a common annual 0.25° grid. arxiv.org/abs/2607.03298
🎮🫠🔋 Inspired by Wordle and Tradle, I've launched 🌾Climatle🥵, a game where you need to guess a country based on its environmental profile: Energy mix, CO2 intensity, current and projected climate... 🕹️ You can play here: climatle.carlosrodriguezpardo.es
I just added new open-weight coordinate embedding models to my repo github.com/crp94/geospa... 🛰️ RANGE/RANGE+, CSP variants, GTLoc, and TorchSpatial baselines
Our work on fast voxelization and LoD for microgeometry 3D structures, based on hierarchical SGGX clustering, is now available in The Visual Computer! link.springer.com/article/10.1...
I really enjoyed this fascinating book by @thomas-dekeyser.bsky.social , really recommend it
A simple experiment I just did. In order: Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot (Google invested in Cursor) Don't trust any LLM
Our paper "Fast Voxelization and Level of Detail for Microgeometry Rendering" is accepted in The Visual Computer! 🚀 We introduce a parallel voxelization method & novel hierarchical SGGX clustering for better LoD accuracy. With J. Fabre, C. Castillo, J. Lopez-Moreno arxiv.org/pdf/2604.13191
⚠️ Our paper "Neural Conditional Transport Maps" is accepted at @tmlrorg.bsky.social 🧠 We use hypernetworks to learn optimal transport maps that adapt to conditioning variables 👩💻 With @leo-ch.bsky.social , E. Borgonovo and @maxtav.bsky.social 🔗 openreview.net/pdf?id=CZvkp...
New preprint! 🦒Towards ecologically meaningful foundation models 🧑🔬 With @rachelparkinson.bsky.social and many other really cool people! 🔗 ecoevorxiv.org/repository/v...
🤔We're building AI for climate backwards. Too often, researchers ask what AI can do, then search for climate applications. We need to reverse this: start with what climate action needs, then design AI to deliver it. @maxtav.bsky.social and I make the case in Nature this week: rdcu.be/eXMtH
This book by @kaiheron.bsky.social @kmilb.bsky.social ky.social @bertrussell.bsky.social is really interesting! Great read, with novel ideas
🧠 🔌 I’m excited to share our new paper in Energy & AI! 📂 Open access link www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... W/ @jj-gonzalez2491.bsky.social, Alice Di Bella, Iacopo Savelli, @maxtav.bsky.social
I have created this repo github.com/crp94/geospa... for easy, scalable, and flexible use of geospatial embeddings, currently supporting GeoCLIP and SatCLIP (more are coming!) Not many new functionalities, it's just a simple wrapper that I created for my own convenience.
Claude Caude after being pushed onto explaining how it was making its estimates for computational times of some code:
I *really* liked this book by @coeckelbergh.bsky.social
