I’m jealous of my wife’s tiny lil EV. It’s cheap, reliable, safe, and comfy inside. Real shame America doesn’t offer anything like it (a new one of these is $10k or less and can last you at least 5-10 years).

This was a fun read, but this conclusion made me laugh. Few, if any, Americans will be able to get their hands on these really cool cars for at least 5-10 years, if we’re lucky. It’s super unfortunate because I’ve seen so many fun EVs out here, too.

Ever since the Pentagon began striking boats last year, Ecuadorean fishermen say they have been scared to go out onto the water. But the crew members of the Negra Francisca Duarte II had bills to pay and mouths to feed, they said, so they set out to sea in early March.
Satisfied with their catch, they said, they headed back to the mainland, entering Ecuador's territorial waters in mid-March.
That morning they were stopped by the nation's coast guard, inspected and then cleared for passage, according to interviews with five of the crew.
That afternoon, they said they noticed they were being followed by a blue boat on the horizon. About an hour later, drones flew toward them and then dropped explosive devices onto their ship, injuring several crewmen and engulfing their vessel in flames.

I just don’t know what to say about this. People won’t subscribe to media outlets to pay for news that’s vital to maintaining justice in society, but also use adblockers so that no media outlets can earn revenue from ads, and the last nail in the coffin is AI summarizing our stories for you.

As it turns out, this is only a golden city for some people - and they're not the ones developers had hoped to attract.
In mid-July, Malaysian police raided two alleged scam operations spread across 32 premises in Forest City, arresting 335 people and seizing assets worth about one million ringgit (£181,810; $245,000), including 313 computers, 1,557 mobile phones, 17 laptops and 10 modems.
From these two call centre hubs - one occupying 27 apartments across five storeys of a residential tower, the other spread between five bungalows - cryptocurrency syndicates ran investment and love scams targeting victims abroad, according to police.
Those arrested include 309 Chinese nationals, 19 Indonesians, three Malaysians and four Myanmar nationals. Johor police chief Ab Rahaman Arsad said authorities were working with Interpol to track down the mastermind behind the operations.

Teslas more than Chinese EVs!
Apparently Chinese models are updated too fast and parts stop being made after a year or two.
