It seems I interrupted dinner! Since this nest is right outside of our front door, each time I open it, the mama bird flys off. This is the first time I saw the fledglings reaching up! 🪺 #housefinchnest

This latest experiment warranted a short video because it moves! This is a continuously convoluting carousel book structure (invented by Graham Patten.) Kinda tricky, even with the tutorial, so I was excited to get this far. Check it out! #bookbinding

More cyanotypes! I had fun in the sun yesterday, for sure. I did a few prints without plexi, so there is some beautiful tonal variation and depth. Pretty neat! 🎨🌱 #cyanotype #botanicalprints

Learning process! I did four cyanotype prints yesterday afternoon, but did not rinse and drain as thoroughly. All have some staining. So now I know! Still, I really like how these are turning out. Such a fun way to capture forms quickly. #cyanotype 🌱🎨

I was a tad impatient and did two smaller pieces next to each other, hence the overlap on the left. But I love the detailed veins that appeared on the bloodroot (left.) The right are three leaves from a lupine plant. 🎨 #cyanotype

Cyanotype! I have always wanted to try this. I coated paper last night with the iron salt solution and grabbed a fern leaf from the yard. It gradually turns bronze in the sun. Then you rinse! A splash of dilute peroxide solution brings the deep blue faster. I can’t wait to do more! 🎨 #cyanotype

Only took about 15 minutes for the paper to turn a bronze/brown.

Removed the green fern and it is blue under the plant matter.

After rinsing and adding a dilute peroxide solution, the fern part is light blue and the surround paper a deep blue.

I have this invasive musk thistle that I discovered in our brush pile a few weeks ago. I saw some color on one blossom and wanted to wait for full bloom. Thought I saw that earlier this week. Nope! This gorgeous thing filled out this morning! So beautiful! Will dig it up before it seeds… 🌱 #thistle

This is an addition to a collection of bookbinding technique models that I started a while back to have as references, and for practice! A piano hinge binding uses sticks to connect the signatures. Some twining at the top and bottom with waxed linen thread keeps it all in place. #bookbinding

The intuitive doodles continue! The Blue Moon at the end of May inspired the blue (and I did the line drawing to add to my full moon drawings for this year.) The yellow hexagon was inspired by those intricate peony stamen! 🎨 #intuitivedoodle #bluemoon #peony

Husband found the start of a wasp nest in his Big Green Egg so, naturally, he called me over because I love stuff like this. The structure is so beautiful, and I have not seen one just at the start. #waspnest #hexagonalcells
