The process is to talk with your parish priest who would decide if it’s appropriate to go to the bishop for permission/further steps. See below for TEC’s teaching. In the meantime, remember that you are baptized and that your baptism is the greatest defense against anything spiritually malicious.
General Convention 2018, Resolution A070. As you can see, there was quite a lengthy process involved, including in congregations and with consultation by experts and native speakers.
I think you’re mistaken. The bulletin for the ordination of the Bishop of Los Angeles matches the Ordinal in the Spanish translation of the Book of Common Prayer. The BCP on the left and the Ordination Bulletin on the right.
You might think this magpie is very cute, but you did not see the wee pied villain snatch the last bit of scone from my plate, fly a couple meters away to eat the scone before flying back, walking inside the retreat centre through a door left open, and pooping in the hallway before I chased it out.
I baptized a college student this morning in a little gathering before mass so that her mom in Shanghai could join by WhatsApp video. It was darling! Hsin Yue translated my homily into Mandarin for her mom and we all had a little two-way-translated visit afterward. 🕯️
I finished the biography of Rachel Hosmer, OSH, an Episcopal nun, General Seminary professor, and among the first generation of women ordained ti the priesthood. During WWII, her Order sponsored a child whose parents were sent to a concentration camp. 🕯️ Because of this advocacy, this happened:
Happy birthday to my bestie @ancientspeak.bsky.social ! An extraordinary friend, a gifted preacher, a skilled liturgist, a Tumblrer of the days of yore, a compassionate activist, a committed practitioner of prayer, a theologian after God’s own heart, and the best iced coffee buddy in the world!
Super love for a random guy to remind me that my orders are invalid on my anniversary. The sheer and utter arrogance of people like this astounds me. 🕯️ (Also I want to acknowledge that women who are priests deal with this garbage all the time and I am extremely angry on their behalf.)
I love having college students in my parish for lots of reasons, but being included in their tea is definitely among the top ten. 🕯️
“In God’s economy, the spear that the soldier used to pierce Christ’s side should never be used for violence again.” - @revrachelmann.bsky.social Really excellent essay on war from the Revd Dr Rachel Mann in June’s edition of @christiancentury.bsky.social 🕯️
Northfield has a very robust system of curbside rehoming. Yesterday’s score while walking the hound was this very sleek older model De’Longhi Nespresso Inissia machine. Descaled this morning and working perfectly!
The Snow Removal Guild at my parish had an end-of-season dinner at a parishioner’s out door brick pizza oven. My contribution was to make an orange polenta cake with whipped crème frâiche frosting. 🕯️
Late to the game tonight, but I wrote the collects for today’s feast of Juana Inés de la Cruz during a late night collect writing frenzy at General Convention in 2018. I just went back to look at the original submission and it’s wordier on the one hand, but also flows better at the end. 🕯️
We baptized our youth minister @jackgronholz.bsky.social last night (by immersion) and the teens presented him and carried him around to the congregation immediately afterward. I keep looking at this picture and getting so misty-eyed at the obvious joy! 🕯️
Everything is ready for the Great Vigil. Fizzy apple cider and sparkling wine is chilling for the post-Vigil party. Parsonage is clean enough for limited familial guests. Wee hound is snoozing. Tomorrow’s homily is percolating. Time for a little JCSS listening! (The all female cast is amazing!) 🕯️
It is my custom to invite the clergy of the parish to join me in washing the stripped altar and anointing it with all of last year’s Sacred Chrism. This year, more than most, I was very cognizant that we were (and are) the myrrh-bearing women washing the Lord’s body and preparing it for burial. 🕯️
If they think I’m going to miss my twice-a-year opportunity to wear rose vestments at mass, they’re wrong. 🕯️
