This blinded tf outta me when coming across Memorial Bridge today. I feel like it needs a warning sign as you come around the corner and approach.
I’ve got the DC flag sub sandwich tshirt. What’s the trending reflecting pool merch to mark this moment?
DC, if you see any downed trees or power lines after the storm, especially in the public space, please submit to 311.
If you have not been outside yet, the air quality is as bad as predicted in DC. There is a haze and it does smell like smoke. Please limit your time outdoors today. Many camps have already announced that children will be indoors today.
$16 million to paint and fix the Reflecting Pool that doesn’t look painted at all anymore $1.8 million per day on National Guard deployment to DC ??? for annual testosterone testing for all service members over 30 Where are all those budget hawks?? 🧐
Caitlin Clark: “I got kneed right in the quad. That hurts. The ref can't miss that.” *watches play in question multiple times* Now, Caitlin, we can see…. #wnba
Oh what a night — Jay, Bey, Blue, Nas, Memphis Bleek, Alicia Keys. Jay-Z 30 at Yankee Stadium was a vibe. Already have FOMO missing tomorrow night.
What really grinds parents is when a provider *charges* to fill out these forms. I want children to attend their well-child visits. I want children to go to their routine dental visits. And there are more efficient ways to capture this information.
All of these guys are saying they talked to McConnell for 20 minutes. And in each of the statements there’s no mention of McConnell talking back.
In March, I introduced legislation to install and fund rodent-resistant trash containers through capital projects. Today, the Council approved a subtitle in the Budget Support Act (and earlier approved the funding!) to get this process started in FY27!
@dcdpr.bsky.social has options this weekend: 🌊17 Outdoor pools: 10am-6pm *anticipate 1 in, 1 out at peak times* 💦35 Spray parks: 10am-6pm ⛹🏾♀️10 rec centers: 9am-5pm *including 3 indoor pools* And if you get desperate, we know the baptism pool at the State Fair is also open. 😂
Gotta get to the function, but the “state fair” blocking your route? Metro, baby! @wmata.com 🤣
🎆 Road closure maps have finally been released for July 4. There a multiple secure public viewing sites for fireworks. But be prepared for an 11pm start time. 😮💨 Expect traffic. Find more info as you make plans: 250.dc.gov
Went to the Great American State “Fair” yesterday so you don’t have to. Not a funnel cake, corn dog, bucket lemonade, or fried Snickers in sight. The only ride is the Ferris Wheel. It’s not that kind of state fair, y’all. Saxophones were not added to this recording.
At this point, I’m convinced they’re just going through storage & adding statutes to Freedom Plaza just to be adding statutes. She’s new.
Got a lil bit of a line inside MLK Library to vote! A true perk of voting in DC, you can vote anywhere in the city. Find a Vote Center or Ballot Dropbox near you: dcgis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/instant...
Had to return a book at @dcpubliclibrary.bsky.social today and got to check out their new exhibit District Vibes American Pride: How DC Changed American Culture. Definitely worth a visit to MLK Library. Had no idea that the founder of NASCAR was raised in Columbia Heights.
In-person early voting has begun in DC for the primary & special election. It’s our first election using ranked choice voting. Find a Vote Center near you: earlyvoting.dcboe.org
Axios DC has a good map of some of DC’s big events this summer including Capital Pride & America250. The DC govt in me looks at this and sees $$$ for all the overtime required for MPD and DPW employees just to block streets. 🥴
Finally, the rain seems light enough to put up some RCV signs. Thanks @rankthedistrict.bsky.social!
WNBA 🤝🏾 mNBA 😏 Both NY teams playing — sound on for the Liberty who actually have a tight 4th quarter. Not gonna jinx the other one. 🤞🏾
It’s the contradictions that frustrate me. You can’t have your staff only come in *once per pay period* & then also tell me ~$1million parking contract is a necessity. Here’s the Committee of the Whole budget report that I reference: lims.dccouncil.gov/Hearings/hea...
Freedom Plaza is looking real tacky these days. None of these statues were there before.
