I think today was the first time we’ve broken 100°F (38°C). But making it to July 22 without a 100°F+ day is almost a miracle. I’m counting my blessings that I have an inside to go to.

Double-slit experiment #SUPERNERD #Caturday

Room with expanse of tan carpet (with random items on the right side that are not relevant to this painful attempt at a joke). There are two strips—or slits—of sunlight coming through windows outside of the frame. The slits are approximately 6 inches wide and a yard long, and are side-by-side lengthwise from the camera. The sun only shines through these windows in the fall when the sun is lower. My fluffy orange and white kitty basks in the sunlight of the top slit. (Her image is blown out because she’s so much brighter than the rest of the scene but I don’t have the photo software to fix it). “Double-slit experiment” is a physics thing.😹 It proves that things are changed merely from being looked at.

My fluffy orange and white kitty, Annabelle, on my bed. The bed has a kind of minimalist look with a woodheadboard and footboard (the only thing remotely minimalist in my house). She’s lying on the fitted sheet that stretched across the mattress. The sheet is is a lovely “Carolina” blue (Pantone 297-C, more or less), gazing pensively out the window. The light coming in is so bright that the irises of her golden eyes are slits. Her little paws, which are orange with white toes, are crossed daintily in front of her, draped across the end of the bed.

She is lying on the fitted sheet because she was helping me make the bed. I guess she decided that the rest of the covers could fuck off.

Happy Caturday to all who celebrate! Here’s Annabelle enjoying the afghan my grandmother made for teenage Chicken during my green-and-yellow phase. Annabelle’s little paws kill me; it’s hard to tell here how adorably they’re curled around the fold of the afghan. *please note her little chicken toy

Floofy orange-and-white kitty, Annabelle. She is a pretty pretty princess. She is lying across a folded green-and-yellow crocheted afghan, a gift from my grandmother (who also taught baby Chicken to crochet), her little white paws peeking out from under her white chest hair. She’s looking up at god-knows-what (“cats can see things we can’t”) with her clear golden eye. The afghan is atop a bedspread with a boho-type print in muted blues, greens, turquoises, and a little yellow. The afghan doesn’t “match” as it’s much brighter yellow and green, but it still goes. And it makes me really happy. Even happier to see how much Annabelle loves it. Her great-grandmother would love that.
