Welp, it’s been a good run as a limited player but I don’t think I’ll ever draft a deck better than this one 😔
On the topic of Boros cards, here are a few BUSTED ones that you might not have played with before (or more likely, haven’t even seen)
Green ramp strategies take a substantial hit in power/effectiveness when fast mana like moxen and rituals exist. Why play green when you can ramp in blue? I also think green needs a bit of a power boost in the cube overall, not many premium cards.
Cheap cards are king and it’s tough to go wrong with drafting a nothing that costs more than 3 mana, but it’s also important to know which expensive cards are worth picking highly as well. Your slots for expensive cards are pretty limited but you do want the good ones
Underworld breach and tinker and draw 7 combos are sweet and all, but mono W, mono R and Boros are top tier decks! If you’re totally new to cube, these decks are a great way to get acquainted.
Parallax wave is one of the best cards in the cube. Mostly a W aggro card but not exclusively. Super flexible. Protects your creatures, clears blockers, blinks things, gets rid of problematics threats, generally just way more game warping than it looks
Every time I’ve seen OUaT cast so far, it’s been at the wrong time. If you’re on the draw, you don’t need to cast it at the end of your OP’s turn. Wait till you untap to get more info about what you need.
A powered cube thread with a few tips for those new to this type of cube (will probs add on sporadically) Don’t pass moxen just because they’re not in your colors, colorless extra land drop is still busted (moxen should also replace a land in your deck)
Found a bit of time to get in a powered cube draft, gang’s all here 🫡
Lesson-learn is in my top 3 limited mechanics of all time, and lessons being in ATLA soft confirms its return. The subversion of what color pairs should do in limited and the focus on sweet instants/sorceries also highlights for me
Evoke and changeling both good limited mechanics and like, these guys are just cool
While I’m not that hyped for any of the 2026 UB sets, got a feeling in my bones that the UW sets will be bangers. Lorwyn is a sick plane creatively and mechanically, feel similarly about Strixhaven, and there’s some “wow” factor they’re being hush-hush about w/ Reality Fracture
PSA: These three cards don't have a "you may" or "an opponent controls" clause. Betty is *very* generous and will give a counter to your opponent's creatures if you have none, and the other two will target your own creatures if your opponent has none.
Someone recently asked me the omnipresent question "how do I get better at Magic/Limited gameplay?" Gave some thoughts + an important add on from @neo-mtg.bsky.social for those curious about my answer
This card is a banger, one of the best commons in the set. Even if it’s just edict + some material to sac/chump with its good, better if you can get some mileage out of the pinging
Final fantasy PSA: the templating on this card makes it pretty easy to misread. The power/toughness change happens right away, it doesn’t set a new P/T when the creature comes back
Some real Ancestral Recall/Healing Salve vibes coming from the common land cyclers
PSA: you don’t have to discard a card to glacial dragonhunt if you don’t want to! I’ve seen a lot of people discard a land to it when there’s virtually no reason to. Sweet design btw
2-0-split the finals with a buuuuusted sealed deck! The seed pack really supercharges things. Chose Mardu as my clan. Every time I cast Jeskai revelation, still would have won if you chopped off a sentence or two
Love the implied R&D learned lesson here of “wait, we probs shouldn’t make removal spells that are super effective vs the creature type this set is about”
7-0 on my first bullet of the open 🥳 won 5 of the games with Riverchurn Monument
Sometimes you open a sealed pool that’s better than most draft decks! 6-0 in the win a box event 🥳
