I've helped craft opening and closing ceremonies for the CONvergence sci-fi convention in Minneapolis for years, and currently our Opening Ceremony takes the form of "The Connie Show," a talk show hosted by our robot mascot Connie.

#SpiderMan Brand New Day did massive numbers over its opening weekend, proving that people were misunderstanding "superhero fatigue." What do you need for a great opening weekend? A strong, popular brand and good trailers.

Everyone always holds up Spider-Man 2 as the gold standard, and don't get me wrong I love it. The visuals of Spider-Man fighting Doc Ock are iconic. Great performances throughout. But one thing I always bothered me about the film that keeps me from loving it quite as much as I wish I did.

#Batman Caped Crusader feels less like a pure expression of a golden age Batman story and more like Batman put through the filter of the pulp heroes that inspired him. I wouldn't expect him to team up with the Justice Society as much as The Spider or Doc Savage. (The Shadow would seem redundant.)

It amuses me that I largely got "typecast" in comics for my artwork based on animation and all ages material. But a lot of my early published work was horror, including the Re-Animator movie adaptation, Kolchak, a Jack the Ripper miniseries, and other Lovecraft adaptations. Would love to do more.

I just rewatched the delightful #Batman the animated series episode Showdown featuring #DavidWarner as Ra's al Ghul and #MalcolmMcDowell as Arcady Duvall. It only just now occurred to me this was effectively a reunion of the two actors having appeared together in the classic Time After Time. #BTAS
