Vash screws up his courage, covers Wolfwood’s hand with his own, stares straight into Wolfwood’s eyes, and states with his lips brushing Wolfwood’s thumb, “Changed my mind. I am hungry.” And then, just to make sure Wolfwood doesn’t misunderstand him, he parts his lips and lets his tongue dart out to taste the pad of Wolfwood’s finger.

Wolfwood inhales sharply, but he meets Vash’s stare with one just as steady, with his eyes marveling and eager. Oh, he wants to do this for Vash. He actually wants to help Vash. He wants to feed Vash, to ease Vash’s hunger. Vash can see it in his eyes, can feel it in the way Wolfwood murmurs, “So it’s like that, huh?” before he insistently and unyieldingly shoves his thumb into Vash’s mouth.

RUN IN WITH TOAST IN MY MOUTH this is a very old trimax vashwood wingfic 5+1 wip but i still like this bit (something something vash can see it in his eyes)

Vash stubbornly holds his stance even as Wolfwood goes so far as to look at him over the top of his shades to fully express his skepticism. Then Wolfwood’s gaze flicks away, over Vash’s shoulder, fastening on Granny and Lina’s house in the distance.

Wolfwood looks back at Vash before Vash has a chance to relax. Wolfwood seems to consider him for a heartbeat; and then he gruffly tells Vash, “Day’s not gettin’ any longer, dumbass. We still got a lotta ground to cover today. Get movin’.”

His words are rough and short. But the tone of voice with which he’d spoken in… there’s something soft to it. Something sympathetic. Still stern enough to let the both of them save face, to let Wolfwood pretend he’s not expressing his condolences to Vash for having to leave; and still curt enough to let Vash pretend his words had offended him into motion.

Wolfwood’s offered him an out.

Wolfwood’s words are enough to let Vash pretend that it’s Wolfwood who had driven him out of his home. They’re enough to let Vash pretend that he’s walking away for the other man. They’re enough to let Vash pretend that the grief that fills his chest isn’t the consequence of a duty that Vash had chosen to cleave to. They’re enough to let Vash pretend that Wolfwood is making this choice for him. It doesn’t have to be Vash’s fault, if Vash doesn’t want.

Wolfwood’s eyes, above the frame of his sunglasses, are dark and kind.
