I know he’s known more for his figural stuff but View of Toledo is one of my very favorite paintings by El Greco, a magnificent weirdo. If you came to it cold, you’d plausibly think it was painted in the nineteenth century, not the sixteenth. Sharing purely because it makes me happy.
