The boy has been amazing on this trip to Scotland (sadly our last day today). My youngest took this of him by Loch Cluanie on the drive up. Bird wise the Kintyre Peninsula has been relatively quiet. Nice to have Nuthatch though. And BTD’s are amongst my favourites 👍👍👍
Had an afternoon fishing (and blanking) on Benbecula this afternoon with my boys. Really pleasantly surprised to have 2 Bonxies fly over us and pleased to see a Black-throated Diver as well. The great thing about fishing up here is that anything can turn up. 👍
Thought we had a sighting of our first Corncrake this morning. Turned out to be a young Red Grouse😂 Shortie on the St Kilda viewpoint road along with Snipe. And Shortie flew across the Committee Road giving a nice view.
Iona early in the season is great for them. And just a lovely place to visit. Had 3 Shorties this morning and a GND. This afternoon we took the boys fishing. Had a Hen Harrier, Twite, White tailed Eagle and a RTD.
Not sure I’ve seen one of these before. According to AI it’s a compass jellyfish. Came across it on a beach on North Uist.
Back in our happy place. Corncrake calling from garden. Shortie over the dunes. Twite, Linnets, Snipe etc from our walk which was only meant to be down past the church. 3 hours later and we’re back🤣 OH knows she’s married to a birder and short walk can mean anything from 30 mins to all day. 🤣
Worth getting stuck behind all the Sunday drivers today. The Western Reef Heron did the decent thing and stayed another day👍 A very enjoyable Welsh/UK tick. Just giving the car a quick charge then heading home. #BirdingWales
Really enjoyable long day birding, primarily on the dry side of the bridge today. Absolute highlight were the Hobby’s, but well supported by heard only Great Reed Warbler, Cranes, LRP, Bitterns booming, Green Woodpeckers and Cat Ych y Fi Mandarin. Ended and a good (for me) total of 93 species.

Great to be back out with the boy after a few days away. Despite the cold wind, good numbers of Pied Flycatchers and Redstart at RSPB Gwernffrwd Dinas. Also Cuckoos, Spotted Flycatcher, Tree Pipit, Garden Warblers, Blackcaps etc. #BirdingWales
Brilliant days birding with 2 of my 3 boys today. All around Dorset. Ended on 77 species with highlights being Corn Bunting, Yellowhammer, Firecrest and Dartford Warblers. Potentially could have got to 80 if numb no nuts would have crossed the bridge at Radipole. 😂😂
Took advantage of my family’s abysmal Geography knowledge and “nipped” down to Goonhilly Downs from the holiday cottage in Chard😂 Stunning views of the Lesser Kestrel. Celebrated with a Cornish Pastie with Bud at Kennack Sands where there were also 5 GND’s. #CornwallBirding
Local farmer gave us permission to have a wander around his land. Beautiful location going up to Drummau. Skylarks, Ravens, Red Kite, Willow Warblers etc. Good chat with him afterwards as well about NRW’s positive inputs.

Beautiful day around Bannau Brycheiniog with 2 of my 3 boys. Siskins, Willow Warblers, ChiffChaffs, Ravens, Kites and some kind of newt. Then over to the Usk Valley. Absolutely brilliant to see a pair of Ospreys there. Dreadful photo as they were so far away. #BirdingWales
Don’t think the hound was impressed with the wind and Hailstones around Bannau Brycheiniog this morning. Pleased to get 4 Ring Ouzel though. Then dipped the Woodchat Shrike in Cardiganshire in the afternoon.

Lucky to have this walk from our front door. No returning Wheatear yet. But good numbers of Skylarks, and great views of a couple of Kites manoeuvring in the wind.
Headed West to make the most of the weather. American Wigeon relocated the other side of the spit on the Teifi Estuary. I suspect it was because the tide was out and lots of people were enjoying the weather. 2 Wheatear at Mwnt as well. 👍👍#BirdingWales
Cracking day with my cousin, niece, her partner and my oldest in Somerset today. Highlights included our best ever views of Firecrest on the path between Shapwick and Ham Wall, heaps of Marsh Harriers, booming Bitterns and a Glossy Ibis at Catcott to end the day.
Eastern Black Redstart showed nicely at Sheringham this afternoon. A cracking little bird. #NorfolkBirding
