The group spent the morning touring the Bowersock Hydroelectric Dam in Lawrence, KS. Had a blast learning about the history and positive impact in the community, as well as getting in a quick cycling workout!
The team had a day off the water to set up a PFAS and HABs mesocosm experiment. Great kickoff to the summer field season!!
Wow #ASLOSIL26! My feet are killing me, I can barely talk, and I'm running on maybe 10 hrs of sleep for the whole week -- all signs of a great time! Thanks to everyone who made this week happen!
Happy May!! What else starts with "m" -- MUD! We are taking name suggestions for our new sediment mascot.
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 for wundergrad Emily!! She presented twice in two weeks on her first poster with her very own R-created figures!
A perfect day on Cross Reservoir teaching limnology and playing with all of our lake toys!!
I have never had a green thumb. So let me tell you, I am ready to defend these little sprouts with my life! We have sugar pumpkins, carrots, and lettuce in the works 😊
Kicked off field season in 20-something °F weather 🥶 Worth it.....for the sunshine and inverts!! (sorry no buggy pics, my hands were frozen)
I've been actively trying to mentally slow down, not work ALL the time, & keep a healthy distance from my laptop on the weekends. Not going to lie...it's hard for me. Anyway, it's upped my embroidery game, so here are some of my new pieces.
This was a fun little experiment to wrap up before the holidays! We used sediment cores to measure internal nutrient loading under oxic and anoxic conditions. Sooooo much troubleshooting went into this, so let me know if you need tips or tricks for sediment incubations.
Field work through the seasons ☀️🍂❄️ We recently wrapped up field season with a brisk day of sediment coring. I'm looking forward to catching up on rest and writing these next couple of months!
Let's be real. Chara knows everything is about her. Happy holiday season from my sweet bean ❤️
Can you tell I've made the switch to Christmas, because I'm trying my best 😂
Tuttle Creek Lake gifted me an eerie Halloween Eve morning 🎃I'll just be over here clinging to these spooky vibes the rest of the year.
Pulling buoys and sampling water on Kickapoo Reservation today. Absolutely beautiful, fall day in the field!
Picked some apples and pumpkins this weekend, all while sweating buckets, but we still enjoyed our time! 🎃🖤
We love sediment!! Took 11 weighted hand cores in 15-20 mph winds 😳 to compare sediment characteristics before and after reservoir restoration.
The perfect mental reset = morning hikes + afternoon coffee and writing surrounded by vibrant Aspens and crisp air. I also completed my third 14er in 7.5 hrs, Mt. Shavano @ 14,230 ft. My love for the Rockies run deep 🖤
Holy mussels!! Grubbing at an oil spill site and surveying buckets of mapleleaf mussels!
Lake Assessment Lab wundergrad gas sampling and loving it (you can tell by the focus)! We sampled headspace for dissolved gasses, chambers for flux, and bubble traps for ebullition -- the greenhouse gas trifecta!!
