Full time: Celtic 1-0 Dundee. A second half header from Nygren is all that could separate both sides. A win is a win for Celtic but performance levels will have to greatly increase ahead of LASK in the Champions League playoff round in a matter of weeks. Dundee were well organised & played well.
🆕✍️ | I’m launching a new weekly column. I’ll never come even 1% close to the great Hugh McIlvanney but he has inspired the name. McFadden On Football: The Monday Review will be a weekly look back at the biggest stories from the weekend’s football. First column out shortly.
At the Sir Chris Hoy velodrome today for commentary of the cycling in the final day of the Commonwealth Games.
First games of the new SPFL Championship season today. I’m at Cappielow for Morton vs Patrick Thistle. Manchester United loanee Elyh Harrison makes his Morton debut in goal. He could be busy today against a Patrick side who are much fancied for promotion this season.
All in all, a successful night. An outstanding standard of swimming with several commonwealth games records smashed. On to the cycling on Sunday 👏
Looking forward to commentating on the swimming at Tollcross this evening. A great set up 🏊🏊♀️
Back on commentary for another season. Celtic host AC Milan as Ruben Amorim brings his side to Glasgow for a pre season test. Kick off at 3pm.
Full time: @MotherwellFC 2-0 @hbtorshavn. Goals either side of halftime from Moormann and Fadinger secure a debut win for Alfred Johansson in charge of Motherwell. His side will head to the Faroe Islands with a two goal cushion next week. Job done!
First competitive game of the season as Motherwell Football Club host Havnar Bóltfelag in Conference League qualifying.
New season and a new press box at Hearts. Looking forward to taking in the game this evening between the Jambos and Rayo Vallecano. One of my favourite players across European football in recent seasons has been Isi Palazon at Vallecano so it’ll be nice to watch him live.
To think a certain English newspaper tried to push this narrative pre tournament… Where would England be without Bellingham?
Vozinha makes his World Cup debut at 40 years of age in goal against the European Champions and keeps a clean sheet to help Cape Verde - in their first ever World Cup - earn a famous 0-0 draw. As debuts go that is sensational 👏
🆕🎙️ | It was a pleasure to be a guest on Track Radio again this morning on @sannyr.com’s morning show. We discussed all things Scotland at the World Cup and John McGinn - and the random fact that his dad was my English teacher in secondary school 😂.
Wow. To see @LewisHamilton win his first Grand Prix with Ferrari is a truly special moment. Statistically, he is the greatest driver of all time and he continues to showcase his immense talent even into his 40’s. 👏
Let’s enjoy it while it lasts… better than Brazil… for now…
Out with @jbleasdale81.bsky.social for the game. Come on Scotland!!!! ⚽️🏴
The Azteca is one of the most special venues in world football. For Pele and Maradona to have won the World Cup there in decades gone by makes it even more iconic. Can’t wait for the football to get started! #WorldCup
Spent the weekend in the Highlands. Our first visit and it won’t be the last. From Culloden to Inverness and Loch Ness. All superb!
As first confirmed by Stephen McGowan of The Herald, Martin O’Neill has signed a one year contract with the option of a second to become the new permanent Celtic manager.
Florentino Perez - ahead of Real Madrid’s presidential election - has announced that Jose Mourinho is the new manager of Real Madrid.
Full credit to Crystal Palace on winning the Conference league. Oliver Glasner has done an incredible job at the club. He delivered the clubs first major trophy with the FA Cup, backed that up with the community shield & now a major European honour. What a way to bow out! 👏
Season 25/26. What a season in so many ways. ⚽️🏴 ✍️ | I’ve covered plenty of games and conducted more interviews for @worldfootball.bsky.social 🎙️ | Another season of commentary under my belt with Celtic Football Club. ✍️ and recently, I’ve just started working with the team at Ayrshire Magazine.
Overnight stay at Seamill Hydro. Jock Stein used to bring the Lisbon Lions here to train before big matches to escape the noise and attention the team received when in Glasgow.
It’s always special to see your work in print. ✍️ for @theayrshiremag
Congratulations to @Arsenal. Premier League champions for the first time in 22 years. A 14th English top flight title. I’ve been critical of Mikel Arteta at times but he has delivered. Credit to him and his group of players. 👏
A fantastic evening at the SFWA awards last night. Congratulations to Claudio Braga on winning player of the year. A thoroughly deserved winner and a highly emotive speech to boot.
