Shot the eclipse. Not as sharp a pic as I managed with the smaller partial eclipse last year tho. Should have used my old manual focus 1970s Canon 300mm f/4 but its front element is HUGE compared to my 46mm filters.
One day last week I found myself standing at Hannover station, because Deutsche Bahn had cancelled our booked train. We were not expecting to even go through here, let alone get off. But we had to replan on different trains to get from A to B. Fun times 😁
Bonkers. The dew point inside my house in SW England peaked at over 19C around midnight last night, which is a level of water content in the air that (thankfully) we rarely get to. Really don't like it humid!
This is a particularly stupid headline. Imagine the scene - yes, Manchester has taken a couple of tactical nukes so it's gone, NHS has collapsed, food supply is gone. Oh BTW you might get a smaller pension rise next year
Just realised I should have uploaded multiple pics to show off the new carousel thingy
To celebrate the increase in picture upload resolution in Bluesky, here's a random pic off my phone
Always impressed by OM Systems in-body image stabilisation. This shot was 1.3secs handheld, standing on the Clifton Suspension Bridge & I could strongly feel the bridge moving under me due to passing cars. Pic looks very sharp.
The news is just full-time depressing now. Here's a robin in my garden recently.
I haven't posted on here for several weeks. So here's a pic I took in Naantali back in the summer
Took the afternoon off yesterday and we walked up on Black Down in the Mendips. There was no-one else there apart from horses. Bliss.
Linköping was brilliant. Tiny, only about 3 flights per day. Efficient. Friendly staff. Perfect.
Social media is getting depressing today. Here's some pictures of birds I took recently
Feels surprising that it's almost a month since I took this, on my "Summer" holiday 😎
Saw this mystery aircraft last month in Cornwall. Seems to be a civil registered Canadair Challenger but with a ventral radar fairing. I was on a beach so no long lens, and no phone signal to check ADSB. Internet searches have proved fruitless. Think it was on finals to Newquay 23/Jul. Intriguing!
Interesting! I spotted this UFO drone on ADSB a few nights ago, and wondered what it was. Now I'm fairly confident I know what it was 😁 www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
I've ditched the crazy costly "lifetime guaranteed" non-stick frying pan that never lasts (mentioning no names). Trying a proper made-in-France commercial-kitchen carbon steel pan, massively cheaper and genuinely will last for decades. Now to see if I can manage to season it well enough to use it 🤣
I see your Silver Spur at a Taco Bell and raise you a Ghost at a tea shack!
Daughter bought a hat this week, which had this great label: "trust us we to be fluent in the language of fashion"
No-mow-May has gone quite well, but as it's now mid-June I suppose I'd better get the mower out this weekend
I wonder if the cat has been following too much US current affairs, as has taken offence at enforced annual vacc jabs today, and is now in hiding behind a sofa
Went to Frome yesterday. Delighted to discover that Pulteney Bridge is not the only UK river bridge remaining that still has houses right across it.
