Current state of fire at Glenmore/Abernethy area. Significant loss of habitat & related ecosystems will take decades to recover. BBC coverage utter shite. Imagine if this in the Cotswolds or New Forest I suspect very different coverage. Governments need to pull their fingers out re response.
Sometimes you just need to lay on your back and look up at a tree. If you’ve never done it I’d recommend it. Very calming.
Fantastic Barbie exhibition down at Kelvingrove Art Gallery. Well worth checking out. Ps did attend with my nine year old daughter.
My grandfather landed with the 51st Highland Division shortly after D-Day. He was a veteran of El Alamein, and Sicily. The role of the 51st Highland Division in the landing was as a second echelon division to support and fill in behind the first wave.
Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it!
Lovely day down in Sma Glen for this years Community of Practice Workshop for Mountain Training Scotland Providers, Trainers, Assessors and Tutors. We spent the day looking at the Hazards and Emergency Procedures section of the syllabus. Stunning weather and great input from everyone.
Lomond Mountain Rescue Team training day. Due to lack of winter we’d a revised training plan for the day which involved looking at options for escorting a ‘stuck’ but mobile person from ‘irregular ‘ terrain.
For those contemplating some wild camping this spring. One - don’t get your ideas from AI. Two - follow the SOAC www.outdooraccess-scotland.scot/doc/guidance... and any local fire safety warnings.
A rather depressing view of the Northern Corries of Am Monadh Ruadh. I can’t recall when I’ve seen the hill so devoid of snow at this time of year. Here’s hoping (and there are signs!) it’ll come back. #KeepTheFaith #Winter
Wee mini adventure today. There are actually two people in this photo. See if you can spot them? 😜
Visiting a Neolithic hunter’s camp this morning. Had moss bites and bone with some raw meat for breakfast. Yum…
A wee ascent of the classic Zero Gully on #BenNevis. The zoomed out shot shows me and ma buddy on the 4th pitch. The closer zoomed in one shows me leading up the crux. Whilst the last one is me moving out from the wee cave at the crux. #Coldclimbs #Winter #Climbing
Some pics to brighten up this sparse account! Some pics from an extended climbing trip to Colorado a long while back.
