By chance I was watching David Letterman in early-April 2011 with Don Rickles as his guest. Don promoted his appearances at The Borgata and I bought tickets for my fiancée and me. Don Rickles' energy a during his show put people half his age to shame. All by chance because I saw it on TV.
Right back up again with all of the global uncertainty. This was yesterday, July 15th 2026.
Here's yesterday's price, July 2, 2026. Easing down a bit more. As analysts are fond of saying regarding the prices for crude oil; 'It's rockets going up and feathers coming down.'
The price for Regular at my benchmark station in metro-Charlotte, NC, yesterday afternoon. Still 90 cents/gal. over last summer's price.
Where're the bitcoin fluffers? I realize that they're not typically on this site.
Petroleum futures are surprisingly tame this morning and gas prices, while sitting at $4.52 at least aren't spasming upward 13 cents a day; until the next silly statement to make the news.
Consumers don't buy petroleum by the barrel. Gas at the pump is only just off its historical peak in the US.
Noted. Have been using the AAA tracker for several months. It's the first thing I look for every morning. A few weeks ago, the average price for regular was declining one or two pennies per day. Got as low as $4.02/gal. before heading for the stratosphere again. 4-12-26
Per gallon it's up twenty-eight cents for regular in nine days. National avg. is $4.30. The price had been slipping a penny or two each day for just about two weeks until early last week.
For those keeping track of such things, one gallon of regular gas is up twenty cents in a week.
I listened to WPST 97.5 FM out of Trenton, New Jersey, in '83 working the overnight shift. I had this little powerhouse of a radio on me. The separate sections of the earphones were positioned inside my hearing protectors. Madonna was a sensation that summer with "Lucky Star" and "Border Line".
I have a number of tie-in promotional cups from McDonald's from that Summer of 1990. Seems like only yesterday in some respects.
Where's this irrational exuberance coming from? This morning's market futures courtesy of CNN.
Somewhere north of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, deep in the cool woods, July 2017. The stream was flowing energetically due to recent rain. It seemed that I had that entire sprawling forest, State Game Lands, to myself.
I don't drive as much as I used to. 6500 miles/yr. I go nowhere until I have to go everywhere; then things settle down. On a recent trip it was $4.669 for premium. This Exxon photo is of my bellwether gas station in metro-Charlotte, NC, area. It's up a buck/gal. here in five weeks.
Per Google Have been tracking gas prices. Extended road trip coming up (of course).
Went to see Back to School in the late-summer with my wife and daughter. Leaving the theater the Coming Attractions displayed a poster for Crocodile Dundee. The film was still an unknown quantity back then. I remember the moment I first saw it.
Gold's down $200/ounce today. In the Great Long Ago, late-'70s(?) Gold was $200/ounce. Among other fluctuating indicators it's difficult to get a read on the relative value of anything.
Investors seem okay with the current state of the nation. I can't reconcile it.
