Read 'Origins of the New South' by C. Vann Woodward. Everything that is happening now, happened Post Reconstruction. He was white and lived in the Jim Crow South.
@coons.senate.gov Bipartisanship will not even begin to happen until Trump is gone. Stop listening and start thinking.
Dems should do a massive birthday card campaign for Trump using this 'drawing' as the base. @raskin.house.gov @kenmartin.bsky.social @rokhanna.bsky.social
"....the adventurers who carried out the European seizure of Africa were often not the bold, bluff, hardy men of legend, but restless, unhappy, driven men, in flight from something in their past or in themselves."
Excellent! Here is a good book too for whoever is interested in the origins of this self made mess.
@kenlburns.bsky.social Please do a documentary on the South, specifically. Great material here.
"The buildings in the "capital city of the movement" are only the beginning. We are building "a hall for 60,000 people" & "the biggest opera house on the globe." And all this in a bankrupt state.-Religious madness & advertising madness. And always the lies accompany everything." -Nov. 9, 1935

"It's not the big things that are important, but the everyday life of tyranny, which may be forgotten. A thousand mosquito bites are worse than a blow on the head. I observe, I note, the mosquito bites."
Kind of looks like a vehicle that appeared at Rene Good's murder. Maybe that is why he was so upset.
The Lost Cause was the beginning of Republican Propaganda. Liberals enabled it in the name of 'reconciliation.' We are always the ones to throw olive branches.
Another book from the same 'Yale-Hoover Series on Authoritarian Regimes.'
I am watching a Kennedy doc. They asked an old man after Kennedy was shot, "How do you feel?" He said, "..everyone hates each other in this country." 1963 This hate really kicked in AFTER the Civil War. AFTER Reconstruction.
Trying to find sense in all this nonsense? Buy this book. I just did😊📚
Another great book I read in 2020 re: the historical arc of SCOTUS and race.
Gives one a bit more empathy towards the Germans during The Third Reich. Berlin was all la tee da. This is a great book about an American Ambassador and his family in Berlin during Hitler's rule and all the changes that came with him. They were all slow to realize. Excellent!
