The healthcare crisis in this country was entirely preventable. In a 2025 poll with @hitstrat.bsky.social, we found a majority of people across the political spectrum were struggling to afford healthcare even before the expiration of the enhanced premium tax credits. This number will likely rise.

About half of people who give birth each year are covered by Medicaid w/ little shared cost. The other half rely on private insurance — with a hefty cost. A 2024 @kff.org poll found pregnant ppl w/ employer coverage pay $2,743 more out of pocket, contributing to higher medical debt among new moms.
