Sorry but this is one of the most blatantly deceptive things I've seen the PM post. He really is preying on people not reading the article (full thread pictured below with the link here): bsky.app/profile/cono... It's insulting to Canadians' intelligence, truly a ChatGPT-style leadership. #CDNpoli
(2/2) Again: a) defence spending means nothing if you don't actually choose to defend Canada from U.S./oligarch influence: bsky.app/profile/char... & thetyee.ca/Analysis/202... b) in this conflict, which is as much about ripping democracy apart, services like healthcare matter as much as defence.
Seriously this is where we are. This is how bad it is. And it's not just on the issue of climate change. #CDNpoli
Feels like a good day to repost the below thread on the need for wealth limits with direct, equal, redistribution. Not sure why... #ElonMusk #Trillionaire #SpaceX #USpolitics #CDNpoli #WealthInequality #Oligarchy
"I’ve learned lots of things from Donald Trump." “I don’t fully subscribe to this, but I see the effectiveness, the value of ‘flooding the zone [to frame/dominate the agenda].’ - Mark Carney. Yes, he's clearly doing it on purpose. Image from Ecojustice: www.instagram.com/p/DYViKV-Di4... #CDNpoli
Again for context: a majority of Canadians (& Albertans) want strong climate policy and renewables, even if they have just felt the need to self silence due to spin. "In fact 70% of the public [& a majority of Albertans] would feel pride if Canada were to become a renewable energy superpower, vs...
'Trump's man' says appeasement will not work, but also: "Hoekstra suggested Canada should instead opt for a more conciliatory approach by doing more business with the U.S., not less." It's, coincidentally, the argument the Macdonald Laurier Institute / Atlas Network here have been making. #CDNpoli
The values of the country and of Albertans in reality: Again what the polling (multiple polls in thread) actually says about Canadian and Albertan views being pro-renewable and for either maintaining the level climate action we had last year or even strengthening it: bsky.app/profile/cono...
Appeasing separatists to such an extreme extent, that was never warrented: bsky.app/profile/cono... Has not, & will not work, just as raising defence spending to appease Trump didn't: bsky.app/profile/cono... Neither will pressuring BC to accept pointless pipelines: www.thestar.com/politics/fed...
(2/2 a project whose economics just got way worse because of the demand destruction caused by the Iran war (North Sea was way MORE viable): www.theguardian.com/environment/... & youtu.be/4kL-ghiZEZI No one deserves an avoidable rerun of the cod fishery collapse: www.theenergymix.com/breaking-wit...
Everyone defending the PM's deregulation is saying it's to appease separatists. There's SO much now he's doing wrong that's clearly not connected to that at all: policyoptions.irpp.org/2026/04/carn... We are told to ignore those other warning signs because it must be '4D chess.' Nonsense. #CDNpoli
WE have values yes. YOU are willing to remove the law to for corporate interests at the expense of sovereignty: bsky.app/profile/rach... & make cuts that HURT Canadians. What a nonsense string of good-sounding words, like that of an AI, yet all largely hollow. Truly a ChatGPT government. #CDNpoli
Here's what happens when you attempt to appease Alberta separatists by destroying Federal environ. policy: They learn separatism works to get what they want which then makes separatists bolder. Pictured below: person stoking Alberta separatism claims we just need to appease it a bit more. #CDNpoli
"If they can delay the date at which the C$130 price would come into effect well into the future." I.e. kill the tax in all but name. Again climate policy is the canary in the coal mine. Pharmacare? Government now talks about it vaguely, just like they once talked about the emissions cap. #CDNpoli
The community-incinerating oil corporations get the free pass but the life saving organ donors are the people we are encouraged to be mad at: bsky.app/profile/chri...
(5/5) ...while lying that LNG can be 'green': thenarwhal.ca/lng-canada-b... AND lying that it's safe for local communities: (4/4) "Ankur Patel, a registered nurse in Kitimat, said he’s already hearing from residents about health impacts...." thenarwhal.ca/kitimat-lng-...
Which leads to this: "Ankur Patel, a registered nurse in Kitimat, said he’s already hearing from residents about health impacts, especially seniors and those with heart disease." thenarwhal.ca/kitimat-lng-... Reported impacts of respiratory issues & nosebleeds: www.sierraclub.ca/lng-national...
(1/2) Carney sees us as "Canada Inc." But we shouldn't run like a corporation. This is were we really need to talk about 'growing the economy' versus actually making it work for people and the framing of regulation. And the talk (speed/deregulation/oil/LNG) in this article is concerning. #CDNpoli
(8/8) With a very pro-AI, anti-public sector, federal government: bsky.app/profile/cono... - that has itself fallen for disinformation around the viability of oil & gas - there are also a lot of run on effects at other levels of government and for the public discourse in general as well. #CDNpoli
Shrugging off hate [CBC failing to call it what it is here] is a BAD thing. That's a BAD sign. It shows you have no values or that YOU have 100% shifted. Also still no comment in anything I have read from CBC from people who have been impacted by that hatred or who work to counter hate. #CDNpoli
This is where we're at folks. This is who the Canadian Gov. says isn't welcome. But an Islamophobic, anti-vaxxer, is welcomed into the government's ranks and the entire media conversation is about how her views are now acceptable in a position of power as long as she's discreet about them. #CDNpoli
An update just now to this situation. Again Canada has to do the maximum possible to pressure the U.S. and Israel to end their war.
(2/2) Seriously, the Canadian Government needs to show consistency here and close the arms loopholes. Not that they have at all shown consistency in the past. www.cbc.ca/news/world/l...
A lot of focus today on the ceasefire and the economy. Less focus on Lebanon from what I've read so far. Important that our government follows through on condemning invasion and takes actual steps to fully close arms loopholes. #CDNpoli
