On this day in 1941, Red Lion Square faced heavy bombing during a World War II air raid from German bombers. Conway Hall suffered minor damage, including broken windows and burnt balcony seats, which were later repaired. A report to the War Damage Commission on May 27, 1941, detailed the events.
