I first reached 300 followers on SoundCloud on a separate account back in 2015 (yes I am ancient). Soon after I hit that milestone, I became really burnt out on music and abandoned the alias.

About a year later, I began to love creating music again, and started fresh with an alias that would eventually serve as the early stages of what is now the Cosmilk project.

I’m not one to care much about minor milestones like this, but this one feels different. I’ve spent a good number of years between 2015 and now wondering if I’d ever “make it back” to where I once was and always felt like I’d been creating in the shadow of what I’d done before, plagued with impostor syndrome throughout it all.

I’ve spent the last few years slowly mending a lot of the insecurities I’ve had when it comes to finishing music, creating music with and for others (such as with collabs and remixes), and my general approach to production.

Reaching this milestone feels like the final tangible thing to show me that I’ve truly moved past where I once was, and that I can still make great music that resonates with others. I’d say this is the first year I’m going into where I feel that I’m no longer looking back, only looking forwards.

To all those who’ve supported me, thank you all so much. I’m excited to show what I’ve been working on. 🩵

A few words about the new EP! I want to get better at sharing my story through something more than audio, so I’ve written some stuff about the project here. Excited to make this yours on Friday! 🩵

I originally began work on From One Point to Another a few months after my first album "Silent Places" came out, and for a short time I was working on this and my second album, "Motion of Time", simultaneously.

I became fascinated in exploring this concept of time dilation when in transit from one place to another. Something I noticed in my life is that during transit (via car, train, airplane, etc.), as we fixate on a specific goal of where we wish to get to, our conventional perception of time becomes altered.

I was aiming for long, sprawling downtempo and ambient songs centered around urban environments and transportation, influenced namely by projects such as 2814 and Global Communication. It was a lofty concept to take on, and in reality, it was mostly an excuse for me to experiment with some very long and drawn-out compositions and atmospheres (the initial draft of Shinkansen was over 20 minutes long!).

At a certain point, "Motion of Time" became my primary focus, and my interest in seeing the full project through began to slip.

Fast forward to 2025, and my life is becoming vastly different from what it was during that period of my life. I've quit my job to pursue music full-time for now, and the opportunities I've gotten and the people I've met since then have been incredibly encouraging to say the least. But what started as a project name describing transit's effect on time, became more of a mantra for a transition point in my life, transitioning from one stage to the next.

I revisited a few of these ideas earlier this year and knew that the title track and "Shinkansen" could very readily be finished with some extra work and care put into them. I then decided to pair these tracks with one of my most recent songs, "Forgone", not only because it fits stylistically with the original concept and atmosphere of the project, but also as a sort of passing the torch to these new styles I'm exploring now.

This serves as what will most likely be the last exploration into these downtempo styles for a while under this project, as I'm looking to move back towards the more conventional forms of dance music that I've had roots in for years now.

Overall, I'm pleased with how these tracks turned out, and I hope you're able to find something interesting here too. If you're reading this, I greatly appreciate it, and I appreciate you for checking out this "salvaged" project. I look forward to what's coming in the future, but I hope you enjoy what I have for you now!
