At Craft Beer Newcastle, we believe in providing factual information on industry insolvencies that may affect local businesses.

In recent years, a growing number of pubs, restaurants, and breweries have entered administration. Local press tends to try to frame the news in a positive light, when the directors subsequently set up new companies and jobs are 'saved', but this doesn't always reflect the full picture that their previous companies are leaving outstanding debts to suppliers, which often includes small breweries and other local businesses.

At Craft Beer Newcastle, we believe in providing factual information on industry insolvencies.

On 16th April 2026, LR QUAY LTD (Lobo Rojo/Little Lobo) appointed a liquidator, with insolvency filings showing debts of over £500,000.

According to ChronicleLive: "Nearly 80 jobs have been safeguarded across all locations, with Robert Beveridge-Pearson continuing with Little Lobo and John Good leading Lobo Rojo as the two brands enter their next phase independently."

The directors mentioned in the insolvency are or have historically also been connected to Low Quay Brew Co (under the business name L Q HOSPITALITY LTD).

New hospitality body launches in Newcastle to champion the sector: A new organisation representing hospitality businesses across Newcastle has launched week, bringing together venues from across the city's sector. The Core - Newcastle Hospitality Association has been created to "provide a stronger collective voice for the industry and to champion the contribution hospitality makes to the life and economy of the city". The association aims to represent the breadth of Newcastle's hospitality ecosystem - from cafés and restaurants to pubs, bars, hotels, clubs and cultural venues - highlighting the sector's importance as a major employer and a key part of the city's visitor offer. Speaking at the launch event, Sacha Lord, chair of the Night Time Industries Association, said: "Hospitality is the fifth biggest sector in the UK and the third largest employer, but sadly in many cities, it isn't given the recognition that it is due. Newcastle has a reputation for its nightlife. It's fantastic to see The Core taking it to the next level."
