Will Eisner was commissioned by the military to create manuals for the Vietnam war When a nearly 60 year old manual on how to maintain a gun is more engaging then literal propaganda, something has gone terribly wrong. I was originally gonna make a joke comparing it but now I'm mad. Enjoy my rant.

The cover of Will Eisners M16A1 operation and preventative maintenance manual. Two soldiers, one standing, the other kneeling, are behind cover. Bullets spray past them, riddling a barrel, a nearby wall, and their cover full of holes. One bullet hits a puddle causing a terrific splash.

The kneeling soldier looks at his gun (highlighted in orange). It is not looking good. The strap is frayed, its covered in duct tape, the stock is chipped, and the sight is covered in... something reminiscent of melted plastic/resin. His face is one of abject terror, the kind felt when one is screwed by the consequences of their own actions.

The standing soldier, squinting furiously at him, says "Do me a FAVOR, tiger... do a quick before-operations CHECK on your rifle BEFORE we counter attack."

Stumbled upon this while reading about the album and I need to make sure everyone knows this cause holy fuck what a blunder.
