Union teacher and cargo biking dad advocating for safer infrastructure, a healthier climate, and communities built for people in Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park.
If you pass by this place on Joseph Campau (just south of 6 Mile) when it's open, make sure you stop in! Adelaide's Superette just opened and they have good coffee, treats, records, a small selection of groceries, and even DVD rentals.
A cyclist was killed after a crash with an Oakland County Road Commission truck on Woodward on Ferndale, here's a comment on a Facebook post about it:
I'm at Wayne State University today for a conference. Nothing makes me feel safer as a pedestrian and cyclist than having a police full size pickup truck and SUV parked on the sidewalk facing each other.
A rare opportunity to buy a house on Detroit's car-free residential street at Pallister Park in New Center: www.zillow.com/homedetails/...
If the day and night are such that you greet them with joy, and life emits a fragrance like flowers and sweet-scented herbs, is more elastic, more starry, more immortal- that is your success. All nature is your congratulation, and you have cause momentarily to bless yourself.
Why would he post this on Twitter but not Bsky and what does it even mean?
Superspeed bike commute home from work in Hamtramck to Sherwood Forest, Detroit. April 27, 2026
Hamtramck will consider a zoning amendment that would increase the maximum building height in residential districts from 35 to 40 feet allowing 3 story buildings to have a sloped rather than flat roof.
In an effort to attract commercial/industrial, the city allowed this huge warehouse/logistics park to be built at Hamilton Ave and Davison Fwy. They removed streets and demolished many houses and buildings to build it. You can see the same view from 2009 and 2024.
Pretty straightforward video showing a driver running a red light on Hamilton in Highland Park, but I think we can unpack it a little more.
Besides good brakes a loud horn has to be one of the best safety innovations for bikes sharing the road with dangerous drivers.
Blessed 😇 🙏 to have this small dryer in my classroom for rainy bike commutes like today.
Street parking a bike is perfectly legal in Michigan. Try it some time!
Each one of these brought one person to work in Hamtramck, Michigan's most densely populated city.
This is what it looks like on the handlebars. It can also be mounted to the stem cap. It has two buttons, which I don't need, but I'm sure could be useful for someone.
Parking to get coffee and noticing all of the oil stains left on the ground by cars. If it's not broken liquor bottles discarded by drivers, broken bits of cars left over from crashes, or sand, gravel, and brake and tire dust all over the edges of the road, it's oil and other toxic chemicals.
Remembering that time when my neighbors in Hamtramck paved their entire backyard with concrete. They didn't even paint it green.
I didn't even rage at her. Pointed out that she rolled through a stop sign and cross walk and she started yelling and swearing at me in front of my kid, pulled a u-turn and blocked the crosswalk to continue yelling at us.
The question was about the crime in the photo. The only crime is the misdemeanor committed by the cop parked in the bike lane.
Even when you're not in Detroit you will see a Detroit cop parked in a bike lane for no reason.
