I heard that someone else was not impressed we left without her, so Sasha got a sniffari. She is reactive to everything, so it's a very different walk with her. Our side of the park had no people by now, so we had a nice calm stroll. Just a few woofs at the family 300 yards away, as you do. 😂
All new things for her. She was a pretty distracted by the people behind us, so Watching them seemed like a better fit. Her nose was very busy while we did that! Here she is watching the car driving into the parking lot.
Look who walked today in a grown-up head collar for the first time ever! She hated it, then realized she can walk nose to the ground and smell the smells just like always. She did very well practicing being around strangers too, including passing walkers and joggers. @gmtminus7.bsky.social
No actual idea, but in-theater: probably this. I would have been 14, so someone at the local Edwards wasn't paying attention. There could have been any older R movie that my mom was watching though, my folks didn't fuss too much about what I saw on TV. 👀
She told me your heart's doing a fine job! If she tips them forward? Definite bat ears!
It’s Rock Day: Rock Check! Do you have your rock? Do you need a rock? Can you find a rock? This is a photo of the single coolest rock I have ever found. It was in the wet sand at low tide, and has at least 7 shells embedded in it (there are more on the back).
My Rottie was the best-walking dog out of the three I have had. Such a good girl, miss her every day. Roxy is seen here with her yard-mate/best dog friend, and camping.
For a second I thought you meant these things, which reminded me, I always wanted to drive the sweeper truck around.
I think she enjoyed herself! This is back at home. Tired pup is ready for a break.
We did sniffari Fri because SOMEONE was too excited over the newness of the park to remember how to heel. Today, I asked her to fall in and we marched off. She's super distracted of course, but it went great! We even got a chance to practice being around people, and CATS. Walker approaching!
No one near us is shooting those, but debris could fall from elsewhere. Time to tuck her in bed anyway. I did get a nice pic of Ninja Doggie before we went in. 😂
Behold, a dog who gives absolutely no cares about fireworks WHATSOEVER. I guess the early thunderstorm training translated to pyrotechnics. We were out there quite a while, I wanted to watch carefully and make sure she really is unafraid. She is. Confident, curious, and ready for whatever I wanted.
I'd never heard of TomBoyToes.com before today, and now I wish I could buy out their inventory and give them away to folx who need them. If you're in a position to try some new kicks, see if they have anything for you! www.tomboytoes.com
Today was a banner day. After all this time working, training, growing, learning stuff, and finding trouble, she is finally two weeks past her last shots. IT'S PARK DAY!!!! She's 7 months old now, and we left the yard for the first time ever! SHE LOVED IT! So many sniffins!!
Sasha wants to be friends, but is not a fan of being pounced and climbed on. We have Swayze on a tie-out when they are together, so Sasha can always protect her boundaries and just walk away. There's one thing they can do together though, and they LOVE it. BITE THE WATER!!!
Finally, she got her last boosters and was almost free. We have street dogs here, so she's only left our house to see the vet all this time. Not worth risking parvo or worse. 31 weeks old now, and double her weight in 12 weeks. Got her first pup cup too! Porch shot is a few days later.
Of course, she grew through her vet visits, too. First two are 24 weeks (she needed a bigger crate!) and last two are 28 weeks. I think she wanted a job!
This was Admiral's travel crate. Smol baby Swayze on her first trip to the vet! 💜 She charmed the entire staff.
I started taking weekly reference shots on the porch. This is from April 11, the week after we got her. I should have included the rail above, for scale. Watch the unpainted spot on the post though, it's a good reference for scale. She's 21 weeks in the first shot, 23, 25, and 27 weeks.
Sasha wasn't thrilled at first, but she's warmed up. A little. Crate time together and proximity without contact helped a lot. Sasha was 4x her weight, we didn't let them meet without a crate for a LONG time. I hope she never grows into these ears!!
One thing I did get to teach her, is lightning, thunder, and rain! We had some epic storms the week we got her, and she took it all in stride. We walked outside under the LOUD metal patio cover, went potty out there, smacked the water around. No matter how flashy or boomy - it's all good with her!
There was so much to cram into a very short time. She was just at the end of a timeframe when puppies naturally acquire experience. Socialization right then is crucially important, and she could not go anywhere because she hadn't had her shots. We started that ASAP and I taught her all I could.
