Finally. A new painting finished. This one, I thought, would take me a few weeks. It took most of the summer. So it goes. 'Great Windmill Street And Shaftesbury Avenue, London.' Oil On Canvas 24" x 36" (60 x 90cm) 2025
Living in wee Kitchener, Ontario, I haven't been painting as many figurative works. I think I should probably start to change that: after all, people really are the most fascinating thing around. Ken (All Gear All The Time) Oil On Canvas 20 x 30" 2025 At O'Connor Gallery, Gananoque, Ontario.
I had the good fortune to make the deco pilgrimage to The Paramount a couple years back...OMG. It was nearly overwhelming. The entire building is a total work of art. It's practically another world, entirely. Powerful stuff. From 2024:
A portrait I did in 2008, in Toronto. Then, I was working the local gay bars, my gallery was just around the corner, and all were close by my home. A great setup. It was such a pleasure painting my co-workers, local varmints and prurient partners. :) "David" Oil On Canvas approx 24x30" sold
Three views of Paris I did in 2025. "April Morning, Rue St. Vincent" Oil on canvas 16"x24" -"Near The Bateau Lavoir" Oil on prepared wood panel 16x24" -"Boulevard Magenta" Oil On Canvas approx 16"x24" Available at the O'Connor Gallery, Gananoque, ON, Canada.
Three small paintings of Paris I did in 2025. Each are 8 x 10", in oils, on a properly prepared wood panel. -Morning, Place de Clichy -Restaurant Le Train Bleu -Early Morning, Rue du Chevalier de la Barre. Each for sale at O'Connor Gallery, Gananoque
I miss visiting New York City. After Toronto as a child, NYC was my first great love. It's mythical, deeply optimistic. The current awful situation in the U.S. forbids visiting, but that's no slur against NYC. It's a great city: formed before the US existed, it's one city that might also outlast it.
Just like the title says. Looking East in Manhattan, in the golden slant of light, on a late January afternoon. "From Chambers And West Broadway" 5 x 3' (150 x 90cm) Oil On Canvas 2024 For Sale at O'Connor Gallery, Gananoque, ON
Three little copies I did, of early modernist works that I love. I really do love early modernism, which was so optimistic about the future, before two world wars tarnished that forever. Copying is nothing to crow about. But, the action - as a tribute and exercise - does contains personal pleasure.
A quick little oil sketch of San Francisco. It's a bit rough, but I like it. "San Francisco Treat" Oil On Panel 12 x 12" (30x30cm) 2024 For sale at O'Connor Gallery, Gananoque, Ontario.
Two rather different views from New York City. The first one is a view from within Louise Nevelson Park in NYC's financial district. It's a direct tribute on a frosty morning: I love her work! The second one is all reflections in frames in reflections, from inside Manhattan's Skyscraper Museum.
This is not "Chesam Street" by Lambert. This is recent, coarse digital reworking of it. From the internet:
I woke up late, to this orange light and atmosphere, from wildfire smoke in Kitchener, Ontario. Normally this would be bright, blue-skied and sunny. I felt like I'd woken up in a sci-fi novel. A frightening one.
OMG, so true! What Madeline could have done with these lines... ❤️
