How much must this be costing Starbucks? Just settle a fair contract already!
Starbucks CEO, who made $98 million in 4 months, wants you to stop thinking about prices. Oh, and union busting. Definitely don’t think 600+ labor rights violations!
Post a bird to support @sbworkersunited.org and warn your followers not to buy Starbucks for the duration of the strike 🪶
An 83-year-old relative sent this to me today and said he’s so inspired by Starbucks workers and their fight for a contract that he sent this to his friends and asked them to share it with everyone they know. 🥹
My book ON THE LINE just turned 3! I had just started work on the Starbucks campaign and held this launch event at a bookstore across the street from what would become the first union Starbucks in PA just a few weeks later.
I have some new followers, so here I am with the paperback version of my book. Read it! Especially if you like stories about working people fighting and winning, or if you like to think about union democracy, labor history, and the transformative nature of resistance.
I love this union. Imagine what we can do by commandeering 550 cafes across 45 states and the District of Columbia (that’s the current size/spread of SBWU) for community defense planning, trainings, and events. All hosted by union baristas.
And of course, Buffalo, NY. The strike is strong at the first union Starbucks!
These brave workers in North Carolina won their union election LAST WEEK. Today, they joined the strike!
We’ve shut down stores in 40 states, so far. We’re line dancing. We’re salsa dancing. We’re doing the griddy. We’re singing old labor songs and Chappell Roan and Broadway musicals. SO MUCH JOY in the fight.
Starbucks workers are on strike at OVER 300 stores today. 5,000 baristas have walked out. I’ll post updates here throughout the day!
Leaders from other Workers United represented shops join Starbucks workers on the picket line in Tucson!
Stores shut down across 13 major cities, including Pittsburgh, which is absolutely a union town!
