Book tempter at espresso coco. Stationery geek. UX guy. Easily distractible with a hot beverage and cake. He/him.
Book 49 of the year: The Wrong Man by Chris McDonald. Great start to a gritty new Mancunian PI series. Loved Ethan and Amelia. Cracking book, highly recommended
Offloaded a couple of huge bags of books to my friend’s little free library to make space. There is still no space, so these will have to live on the spare bed for now…
alas, no #LondonMarathon for me next year. Seen so many of these I'm wondering if anyone actually got a place!
Love finding places to photograph in London espressococo.substack.com/p/london
That would have been considerably more useful three days ago when I was actually *in* London, and less so now that I'm back home in Yorkshire.
Has a fantastic time at @capitalcrime.bsky.social this weekend, loads of great books for my TBR pile. Any catch your eye?
Second day at @capitalcrime.bsky.social and more wondering how I’m going to get all these back to Yorkshire…
Looks like it’s going to be toasty this weekend in London for @capitalcrime.bsky.social. Who’s going?
I’ll get a whiteboard. I’ll use it to track the projects I’m working on, keep it by my desk, keep it visible, keep on top of things. Spoiler: it is not January any more. What do you use to keep track of your projects? (please don’t say a whiteboard…)
Book 40 of the year: read in one sitting, utterly fab. The Blackbird Conspiracy by @tariqashkanani.bsky.social Out in August.
book 39 of the year: We Live Here Now, by @sarahpinborough.bsky.social . Read as part of the @harrogatefestivals.bsky.social #TheakstonCrime novel of the year longlist (I'm on 10/18 now). Really enjoyed that, deliciously dark and twisty!
Sums up camping in Northumberland perfectly. Don't like the weather? Give it five minutes...
Off to Waterstones tonight to see @rjbarker.bsky.social, @franceswrites.bsky.social and @sunyidean.com talk about their fabulous books. I’ve read Mortedant’s Peril and The Bone Door already and they’re both brilliant. Looking forward to picking up The Girl With a Thousand Faces!
The shortlist for the McDermid Debut Award at #TheakstonsCrime @harrogatefestivals.bsky.social out. I've read two (and a half) of these - A Bad, Bad Place and How To Get Away With Murder are both great! Started A Murder For Miss Hortense and enjoying it enormously.
It's publication day for the utterly brilliant The Hollow Boys by the equally brilliant @tariqashkanani.bsky.social. Dark, disturbing, and one just have to go and read. Buy a copy. Buy two. Out now from @viperbooks.bsky.social
Book 36 of the year (and 5th of my holiday): Gunner, by Alan Parks. Cracking good read, really enjoyed this. Out now from @baskervillejmp.bsky.social
Book 34 of the year: The Case of the Singer and the Showgirl by @lisahallauthor.bsky.social More timehop shenanigans, think Quantum Leap but with better frocks and more feathers and sequins. Utterly fab.
Fell into the Whitby Bookshop today and came out with these two.
Excellent #bookpost from the lovely @orbitbooksuk.bsky.social. Dark Is When The Devil Comes, by Daisy Pearce, out next week! Looks and sounds fantastic
Took the dog out for a walk this evening up to the woods and bumped into this deer happily chomping on the grass. Must have been downwind as it took a while to notice us!
Found some #bookpost! Must have arrived the other day and missed it. Huge thanks to @arcadiabooks.bsky.social! The Bewitching by Silvia Moreno- Garcia looks great and is out now.
Another book from the lovely @vertebratepub.bsky.social arrived recently, Allie Bailey’s 31 Days: a zero-bullsh*t mindset masterclass for the modern runner. Heard great things about this one, love Allie’s writing
Book 27 of the year: Receipts From The Bookshop by Katie Clapham. Delightfully amusing look at life in a small indie bookshop
Book 26 of the year: Eye Spy by C.M. Ewan. Gripping thriller set on the Eurostar between Paris and London. Great stuff.
Book 25 of the year: The Bone Door, by Frances White. Utterly brilliant, all the stars.
