Denmark colonized Greenland in 1721. The US has since officially recognized that Greenland is "an integral part of the Kingdom of Denmark" at least twice.

This is a screenshot of text from Chatham House describing "who owns Greenland." It notes that the US recognized Denmark's authority over Greenland in 1951 and reaffirmed it in 2004.
