A snapshot from my @theguardian.com feed- 3 men who are not honest or trustworthy, but who somehow have amassed power and status. 🤬
First of the month. Check your boobs. Breast cancer is not a nice disease to have. Believe me.
None of this is new. Schools that have been implementing 1:1 interventions and small group work will be OK. But it is harder and harder to keep and train the staff to do it… Now “adaptive teaching”’ is not the thing to do. I despair. 1/2
Came across this… there seems to be something missing from a conference about keeping women in education?🧐
It’s not often that I get to sit down and look through a journal, but English 4-11 arrived at just the right time. Nice balance of articles and book reviews- great for busy teachers in the primary school. @englishassociation.bsky.social @uklitassociation.bsky.social
Today I have managed to finished my MacMillianCancer 35 Minute a Day Exercise Challenge!!!! 🎉🎉🎉 I managed to complete all the minutes and raise over £2.5k. Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored and supported me. It has been hard- but I have enjoyed it hugely.
Thank you, Julian. I am doing my best to reach my target. I’ve had to take a few days rest, but I hope to finish. 😊
Another late night performance by the Schools Minister. It does not even say who the experts are who will be joining her. As this is about “effective” and how the changes will be grounded in evidence- I think it would be helpful to know. 1/3
There are some incredibly kind and thoughtful people in this world. I can’t tell you how much it meant to receive this. Thank you. I shall do my best to keep on writing. @rlrossi64.bsky.social
This is not great. A DFE SEND meeting from 6pm-7pm. For leaders with young children, they will need to make a choice between being with their children, or attending this. This is not inclusion. It is not Fair.
Interesting editorial by @jonsevers.bsky.social this morning. I don’t understand the DFE. Of course structures are needed to roll out change. And why they don’t pilot anything? Last week I heard from a HT colleague that she was recommended to contact her own school by the AI attendance report!
So, I now understand the co stand references to Oak all the way through the Final C&A Report!
Another example where I am surprised at the inclusion of Oak as an example…. P53
Ummmm… p52 Whilst I agree that teachers are often better placed to chose content and centrally prescribed curricula can hinder- I do not endorse Oak as high quality exemplification. The heavy prescription of Oak materials certainly do not reflect the principles espoused in this review. 🤔
This was @beckyfrancis.bsky.social in @tesmagazine.bsky.social this morning.
Alternatively, you can read all about it from the experimental psychologists who are internationally respected for studying reading comprehension. 🤷♀️ The real cogsci. 😊
Apple cores are to be savoured. Carrots are a regular treat. I think it’s the crunchiness of them that my dog adores. She also likes cucumber and will even stretch to a crunchy lettuce leaf! 🥰
