DanglinDon
@danglindon
He/him; queer sometime singer of forgotten songs & taker of bad film photos. I used to be cluelessly happy before everything turned to shit; sorry you missed that version of me.
Last of the roll (Adams/Route 66 at State Str.), Mon.23.IX./'19. Taken on LomochromePurple400 with the ca. 1934 Rolleiflex Old Standard (6RF621), uncoated Zeiss/Jena Tessar 3,8; original processing thru Central Camera Co., Chicago.
If you see this, we IMPLORE you to sk@t a picture from whatever device you're using without explanation
Using the Orwo, Nina Hagen und Automobil might ask "Hast Du den Farbfilm vergessen?"
...not only that, I now have one of the backyard-rabbits throwing shade my way for daring to sit in the cool of the evening...
Looonnng fucking day--between the visitors to my parents' house (nurses & family), it took me 9 hrs to do the weekly indoor plant watering (I re-potted a needy crysanthemum & the peace lily my dead Grandma was given after her stroke), then spent another 2 hrs cleaning the kitchen. I'm tired, boss...
Revisiting some old family foto castoffs, I came upon negatives taken when Uncle George (my great-Grandpa's younger brother) worked for the Forest Service...and, I have questions.
Spent a delightful afternoon outside with my Dad, spinning some platters he'd never heard, before taking a bike & some gasoline over to Dad's old house around 20:15 to hurredly mow the lawn there...
Grandma was a prolific taper of "Days of Our Lives," so I guess I shouldn't've been surprised when I inserted the tape & saw this (alt text not really needed; just listen & enjoy)
Going thru boxes at my parents' & I found a VHS tape labeled "Gene Golf Course" by my Grandma (Gene's ma), & thankfully there was a working VHS player on-hand
...just to make sure he knew there were no hard feelings at making me feel all of the agéd queen I've become, I sent him home with a lovely parting gift...
My str8 nephew made me feel ancient this evening, not recognizing this artist (he did, however, IMMEDIATELY register the A-side tune)
Think of it like a selfie in one of those parking garage or hospital mirrors
My twin just sent me this ca. 2010 image of our youngest sister & me preparing to moon the Ed Sullivan Theatre in Dave Letterman times (don't ask me why, but it seemed like a good idea then, after stops at several Manhattan watering-holes)
To-day's errand soundtrack taking me back to the last time I was working my ass off but still had no money at all to show for it
Okay, I feel less guilty about using the Jubilar, 'cause its "brilliant" waist-level-viewfinder is among the shittiest I've ever attempted to use (& for me, that's saying something!)...might need to bring a scarf with me to throw over my head just so I can see more than--well, mySELF staring back
@nbcnews.com, thanx for paywalling what might've been an article that saved lives...as long as those lives have money to read it. I find this pretty distasteful (regardless if "everybody else does it"). You're tied to a multi-billion-dollar-corporation; maybe get THEM to pass the hat instead of us.
...I don't yet see any more puffiness under the affected eye than usual (yay, seasonal allergies)--but if I end up with some purple, it's not 'cause anybody's knocking me around
See those dark spots in my sunglass-lens? One of 'em's an old war-wound (probably around 2015), but the other one I just got sliding behind Dad's power-["electric," in family parlance]chair, as the stem of his headrest smacked me in the face...thankfully the lens didn't shatter...
Folx, it happened again--this time, I'm fairly certain I haven't sung this one thru since easily 2003; nevertheless, I can still feel that bass part in my chest. Memory's a strange thing. Anybody who's known me for the last 15 yrs would be shocked I'd even heard of such a specific random tune...
If it hasn't been tested & the lens is noticeably fogged, does it count? #shittycamerachallenge
To-night's curséd sketch: a baby rabbit that turned into some cephalopod/John Carradine hybrid; ink on paper
Day 2,501 since my last haircut (& it'll likely be just as long until I finally get another, since I haven't had a regular paycheck in 4 yrs) #SomeonePleaseHelpMe
Don't knock it till you've tried it (I did have to change my shirt after a cool-down one MarketDays)
Plant parents: I have a hard-case that I've been trying to keep alive since 2024 (when Dad bought it for Mom; this is currently the last plant he hand-selected, as he could no longer drive by Spring of '25); am I able to take starts of what's still growing here to make it heartier? [details in alt]
Sk@t yourself in your twink era (Wishing I still had that bowling shirt balled-up in my left hand--it had bowling-pin-buttons)
