It's also the only publication I've ever encountered outside the 'The New Yorker' that uses an umlaut on double vowels in English 🤔
I'm re-reading LeGuin's superb "The Hainish Novels" (this copy being the one that taught me not to judge a book by its cover) for the third time in 25 years and happy to report it holds up flawlessly and she is still my favorite author.
That's not an e-bike then. It's either an e-moto or an "illegally modified e-bike". If people speeding around on souped-up sports cars were endangering others, you wouldn't say the problem was "cars".
Gol #3! 🇲🇽 Un poquito de México en Portland, Oregon (at the new Callejon 29 food truck @ NE Alberta & 29th)
Also, Mexicans know how to live in towns and cities and aren't afraid of density - unlike whatever this is:
Thank you for your work on this. Please also be sure to interpret voters' concerns re "housing" as being about social services generally. These are all related. The severely mentally ill people who have been abandoned to our neighborhood streets need more than "affordable housing".
"Happy Alley", bet. NE 29th & 30th @ NE Alberta, Portland (also the location of excellent brand new latin food cart appropriately named 'Callejon 29' 😉)
Here's one of the monarch caterpillars that hatched in our yard ~5 years ago when we lived in Mexico. It always amazes me that the the species --and the milkweed-- thrives in such different climates!
This fucking racist just wants to bomb Mexican cities indiscriminately
Is it weird to *like* consulting the style guide? www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/qanda/data/f...
Folks outside Mexico may not have a sense of just how insidiously entrenched the cartels are in everyday life there. El Mencho wasn't captured at some remote ranch but in Tapalpa, a lovely alpine town popular with tourists from Guadalajara. I've visited many times with my family!
Saw this literally today in -of all places- a bathroom at the Oregon Zoo
The shooters were veteran CBP agents. "Training" is not the issue. (And: Yes, Latino last names, and Yes, racism-driven authoritarianism is complicated.)
Remember the "Iraq Body Count" website, which tallied deaths during the Iraq War when the Bush administration wouldn't? That, but for ICE abductions of undocumented people, detentions of US citizens, and murders. www.iraqbodycount.org
