What if you had a pastor next door that valued your doubts and questions? I’m trying to be him. Ypsilanti, MI
Jesus washed Judas’s feet. Knowing what was coming. That’s the whole point of Christian love — it doesn’t wait to be earned. New post: “The Way Down” (John 13)
Baseball was fun today! Caught the end of the Tigers game after a cruise on river in Detroit at Atwater Brewery with a cute date.
Finished reading: Iron Flame (The Empyrean, #2) by Rebecca Yarros 📚 It’s an epic tale. I am looking forward to book three!
Currently reading: Paul for the World - A Grounded Vision for Finding Meaning in This Life–Not Just the Next by Nijay K. Gupta 📚 Just received this text and I am already enjoying it. An opening chapter entitled, “Holy Worldliness,” has me hooked.
Finished reading: The Aeronaut’s Windlass by Jim Butcher 📚 This is the first book I’ve read by Butcher. It was a fun read with pirates and cats! Humor and action abounded. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
Finished reading: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros 📚 This was an entertaining, coming of age, story. Plus it has dragons… so that’s fun. It was a bit more risqué than my usual read. Those scenes were easily skipped though…
Finished reading: The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook by Matt Dinniman 📚 Another hilarious and entertaining read! Looking forward to Libby sending along book 4 in a few months.
Some rounds of golf are more special than others. Ethan and I got to play nine holes with his Papa today at Cambridge Golf Course in Evansville, IN. I am so grateful for the laughs and fun.
We were supposed to see Mellencamp sing his greatest hits last night at the famous Pine Knob venue. Sadly the show was cancelled due to the smoke from Canada. We still enjoyed a fantastic meal at the Union Woodshop in Clarkston, MI.
A perfect way to celebrate Ethan’s 25th and a belated Father’s Day outing. Arnold Palmer’s Coyote Preserve in Fenton, MI was stunning and fun to play!
Finished reading: Skyward by Brandon Sanderson 📚 A fun fish-out-of-water coming of age story. It felt like Red Rising meets Top Gun. I am looking forward to book two!
We just finished Revelation. Spoiler: it doesn’t end with us going up — it ends with God coming down to live with us forever. New post on ch. 20-22 👇 danielmrose.com/2026/07/0…
Finished reading: Carl’s Doomsday Scenario by Matt Dinniman 📚 An immensely enjoyable read. Yes they are violent and there’s quite a bit of salty language. But, they are humorous takes on culture that make a point without being overt.
The Englewood Review of Books published my review of Sabbath Gospel A New Narrative of Time, Rest, and the Work of the Church by G. P. Wagenfuhr and Amy J. Erickson. You can read it here: englewoodreview.org/amy-joy-e…
Finished reading: Isles of the Emberdark by Brandon Sanderson 📚 The Cosmere is just so much fun. This book, particular struck a chord. The idea that only a story can hold a god, whew.
A new season of The Pastor Next Door is coming soon! In season two, I will be exploring deconstruction. You can check out all the ways to subscribe right here: https://danielmrose.com/categories/podcast/
Finished reading: Dungeon Crawler Carl: Deluxe Edition by Matt Dinniman 📚 An absolute joy to read and it made me laugh out loud multiple times!

It doesn’t seem possible she is graduating this week! @drose@fedi.social
I am anxious about this Sunday’s message from Amos 5. I really want to do it “justice”.
