The Evil Dead franchise never fails! I wondered if this one might buck the trend given the chat around it but its another bloody banger. Brutal? Mean? Absolutely but if you're telling me you don't see any humour in this I really don't know what to say. Three Stooges shenanigans wont work in 2026.
Off to see Evil Dead Burn finally, wish I hadn't seen so much of the internet discourse, people are profoundly irritating. Every film in this franchise today has been a banger, hoping the trend continues.
Completely forgot to wax lyrical about Olivia Wilde's The Invite. Probably film of the year for me, whipsmart funny, poignant, scary, real and stylishly directed. A genuine adult comedy with brilliant performances, if Seth Rogen isn't normally your cup of tea this might sway you.
Love this from Dale Dickey, what a legend. Pops up in just about everything, always great.
Couple of years ago on our annual Cornwall jaunt we were walking the coast path and as we were coming down into Mullion harbour we passed a film shoot. I couldn't find what it was at the time but now realise it was Mark Jenkins' Rose of Nevada.

Shouldn't the audience for these two films broadly be the same? People should be au fait with the movie universe concept now, I just don't understand why you would watch one and not the other. Are general audiences really put off by critical reception?
Do folks still keep magazines? I used to keep all of mine, at one point I was subscribed to Empire, Total Film, DVD Review, Fangoria and Doctor Who magazine, god knows how I read them all. Having moved house with nearly 10 years worth in tow I vowed to slim it down, probably still have too many tbh.
