The Texas grid on January 15. Solar looks like it was supplying ~30% of the electricity for 30 million people and businesses. Add wind and it was one of those 70% renewables for good parts of the day. No, solar is not irrelevant in winter. Far from it.
At noon yesterday the Texas electricity grid was 80% solar and wind with an additional 10% going into battery storage. Remarkable.

Sorry , I stand corrected. The graph is stacked absolute emissions. But unless I am reading it wrong, it shows total emissions in n Texas declining since about 2010. Not shown directly but implied on the graph is that generated electricity has grown quite a bit since then.
True. Texas is leading renewables for the greenback dollar and not the green new deal. Funny how these roads converge… On the afternoon on Nov 2, solar and wind supplied 71% of the grid. Over 30M people live in Texas.
I have a bunch of stations across the US and Canada, other favorites are out of Portugal and the Azores, but my standout favorite is Radio Babel out of Montevideo, Uruguay. Eclectic jazz, classical, with lots of bandoneon!

50% of the Texas electrical grid is solar right now. Amazing. Not very many years ago the max contribution from solar was a few % at best. Green policy by the Texas govt? No, it makes $$.
