caught the sunset at the end of my run but didn't have my camera, so i tried to put it down from memory when i got home
back when I worked on Banner Saga, I got to design the steam trading cards and I wanted to show the world healing post-cataclysm. i might share a few more of these, they were really fun to make
was experimenting with graphic landscapes inspired by telephoto photography a while back
one of my fav acrylic landscapes i did as a student (c2010) - i'm grateful i was able to recover the painting from the school when it closed down last year (but obv sad the school has closed now) a friend visiting my house clocked that i love JMW Turner by looking at this :)
my three year old told me if i leave this drawing out “it will turn colors” which i think means she’ll color it 😅 anyway, sketching a design for a thing turned very self indulgent 🩻☯️
some studies from way back when. i should really do more, but my kids are keeping me busy with their demands for kero kero keroppi and badtz-maru
this is the last #pleinair painting i got a chance to do alongside my painting teacher, Roger before his passing - painted on site at Central Park in Austin (c.2012?). I went back recently and couldn't find this domed structure anywhere, not sure if it was occluded or demolished.
I heard indirectly that Spencer liked this bg painting while I was working on the show, and that's enough for me :3 #castlevania
the neighbors by our old house had this fantastic banana tree, this one is a an actual digital plein air, when i was trying to make the Surface work as an art tool (c.2019)
sometimes you need to design a whole-ass vehicle just so you can break it back down again. i really liked encountering wrecks of the past like this in HZD, and the team put a lot of effort into the worldbuilding/implied elements in Breaker
looking back you can see how i adjusted my speed/approach to doing concepts on breaker. i was really inspired by Vasili Zorin at the time and was trying to emulate his approach. wouldn't mind trying to slow down again. #conceptart #architecture #linedrawing
i have to sit and stare at the giant oak tree (i call it the totoro tree) in our back yard for 30 minutes at least once a week to not lose my mind lmao
before working at HM, i made a #hyperlightdrifter fan art of this location that doesn't exist in the game, from the "art of" book, to test some 3d concepting workflows
today i was sensibly explaining to my 3.5yo twin toddlers that they shouldn’t dip their watercolors back into the paint wells without cleaning their brush bc it contaminates the color 😂 but it also made a kind of cool muddy palette, so i made this with them. then aster dumped the whole palette out 👍
5 years ago i was really into hard-surface modeling and made this FTL fanart...i need to model more #spaceships
