Ordered a bunch of magnets to do some guerrilla marketing at running events for my new app. Now I only need to find some guerrillas.
Downtown Albuquerque is one hell of a vibe. The buildings, people and cars are a trip to a dusty and nearly forgotten south west. But they are serving up some Legit Detroit style pizza at the 505 Central Food Hall. Incidentally, “Version Not Supported” is appropriate.

Emailing out press kits trying to get a blink of interest for Relay Team Finder. Simultaneously I watch people in this coffee shop show each other apps on their phones to download. Which is the real way to get traction. Until then, there’s this.
App rejected for having the user enter their age. The app pairs relay race teams with runners and some teams form with things like “over 40 only” and such. When I was setting this up it should have raised a red flag for me but didn’t. Fairly easy fix but it will take a new server migration. 👨💻

I had to try a pilot. The chef had to shave. I forced it to "make the pilot a woman". Still came back white as fuck. Does chatGPT know I'm white and think that's what I want? Ok I'm out, good experiment but this has probably consumed enough energy to power my neighborhood for a week.
My wife runs...a lot. Sometimes alone, other times on a team in Relays. Building teams is generally done manually through forums or by who knows who. It's tedious. So I made Relay Team Finder to help runners find teams and match teams with runners. Info in next post about a brief TestFlight. 🏃🏻♀️🏃♂️
I love the customization but I filed a feedback over how you must have both of these buttons. It may be hard to believe, but some of us may not want the coding assistant button.

It’s a long story but I opened and ran a small brewery in Seattle for 3 years. I served 13 accounts at its peak. It needed to grow or die, it died. This was from 2013. It was a great time and a great experience. I didn’t suck at brewing.

In the last 30 days, out of the 8 people that downloaded my app, 6 dropped out of onboarding after seeing this screen. It's a one-tap action to verify age using Apple's DeclaredAgeRange API. But my wordy description was too scary I think. My hopefully less scary version is in the reply. 🧵

Seeking design opinions. For an app matching people to teams, I have a small form with a SIWA button. The button is disabled until all values are filled in. One option is to hide the button until then, another is to gray it out. The HIG doesn't mention this decision. What's your opinion dear reader?
