Summertime is such a great time to catch up on movies. Wednesday I saw Cabaret at @voguetheatersf.bsky.social with my friend @randallmann.bsky.social . Last night I saw Closely Watched Trains @criterion.bsky.social. And tonight it's The Mark of Zorro at Oakland's grand Paramount Theatre.
It's so hard to choose just one Betty Buckley photo to say happy birthday @bettybuckley.bsky.social, you magnificent ⭐
Starting my July beach read a day early. I remember reading the abridged version in 1974 in my mom's Cosmo. This time, I'm getting the whole shark 🦈
Pride Parade, 1993. Somebody asked if I would like to march and carry a flag. Hell yeah, I said. So they put me to work carrying the biggest one. "America I'm putting my queer shoulder against the wheel."
Travel tip: You can keep an emergency tea bag in your condiment wallet.
Taking the train up to Gdansk. One of the old friends I will see there is Polish poet Tadeusz Dabrowski whose dark witty "The Scent of Man" is keeping me company on the journey. Here is a poem called Crayons.
A simple pre-solstice supper in Krakow: local breads and butter drizzled with pine essence; fried blood sausage with apples; zander with fava beans and lemon verbena.
Took this one a few days ago at the Danish National Gallery. Each face tells a different story. Especially that of the cat.
Supper last night at Zeleste in Copenhagen. Shrimp, cod, broccolini, boiled new potatoes, cheesecake with berry compote.
Also at the Danish museum of design. This was my aesthetic at age 6. 😍😃
Saw this today at the Danish museum of design. A question mark standing on a ballet slippered foot. The center of the question mark is ostensibly another foot, though it appears to me to suggest something else.
Keeping it mighty real with Sylvester in 1983, about a month after I busted up my left arm. Had some good laughs. 43 years later, I still celebrate that incredible man. Happy Pride.
Dodie Bellamy and I had a delightful time at Pride Mass last night at Grace Cathedral. The readings were affirming and inspiring. God smiled and came upon our faces
My Godson just graduated from pre-K and has already set his mind on a career.
