Good luck to everyone starting #1000wordsofsummer tomorrow! For this years session I will be transcribing this jumble of notes for essays, project outlines, first draft poems etc into something more substantial. I'm trying to spend less time online, so I will check in next Friday with an update!
Can't resist a @whiterabbitbks.bsky.social bank holiday sale! Can't wait to get stuck into the Alice Coltrane biography!
Finished a rewatch of all Wes Anderson's that I own. My current top three are Moonrise Kingdom, The French Dispatch and Rushmore. I have thoughts, too many for here, maybe I'll write them down one day! #LetterBodxFriday #LastFourWatched letterboxd.com/DarcyGreyHea...
It's warm enough for me to stop complaining about how cold it is and start complaining about how warm it is! Anyway, unlike me who is wilting like an oversensitive houseplant, the garden has started to bloom and thrive, albeit a little late!
Back at art class and more experiments in collagraphy and intaglio printing using fabrics like scrim and linen to create textural backgrounds for a future project. I like intaglio because it also embosses the paper slightly giving it more texture. 🧶🎨 #printmaking #textileart #art
Finished my winter coat just in time for spring and took it for a test drive on a research trip to Leith Docks get some reference photos for an art project. Inadvertently matched my handbag to the giant yellow towers that we're all obsessed about on here!Anyway, I love my coat! #sewing 🧶🪡
I finished my first test pair of jeans, I actually love this pattern and fit so much I'm about to make all the jeans! They go really well with my fave t-shirt pattern. The pea coat and Breton top also test makes but all toiles look good enough for everyday wear! 🪡🧶 #garmentmaking #sewing #handmade
Currently working my way through a rewatch of what Wes Andersons I have whilst I finish off an embroidery collection, I do love a little colour palette inspo! I should probably rate Bottle Rocket now that's it's grown on me. #LastFourWatched #LetterboxdFriday
Just found these photos on my phone and I really need to get back to working on my art project about micro plastics and mass consumption. #artist 🎨
Okay, I'm making plans to release some new work soon and this is from a batch of work I've tentatively titled Meditations. This is from the Landscape series, the completed hoop is inspired by cherry blossom season 🌸 and the other by the lilac tree in our garden. #embroidery #traditionalcrafts 🪡🧶🎨
One of our cats prefers enclosed spaces but the cubby on the cat tower is too small for him. Anyway, whilst he may not be overly joyous with my design choices he hasn't left it for six hours, so I say job done!
Bonjour! post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet (if you feel like it):
Recently finished Han Kang's We Do Not Part and I have made peace with never being this good a writer. To be able to write such tender meditations on such brutal topics is a rare gift. 📚
Okay so I still haven't finished the coat but almost, but I did finally finish these two items from the UFO pile. The fly facing on the trousers is a bit wonky but they fit good and this toile (test garment) I started last year for a pea coat using a remnant found eBay. #sewing 🪡🧶
Coat update: almost finished, needs a good press, some buttons and hand sewing but hanging for the day to let the fabric drop. Seeing as I was working with only 3m I somehow managed to get most of the fabric pattern to match up, except the pocket welts. #sewing #handmade #garmentmaking 🧶🪡
So one coat and one pair of trousers to be sewn up, plus one pair of half sewn trousers, can I finish these by Monday? Tune in next week to Sewing Spree to see if I have or not! 🧶🪡 #sewing #garmentmaking #sewsky
More experiments in printing, some quick sketch and etches I did using sandpaper to create flow and texture on the acrylic plate. I sketched these using pics from an architectural magazine, the first is Lochan Na Lairige also known as Lawers Dam. #intaglio #etching #printmaking #printmaker
In today's update in my adventures in printmaking I played about with some practice lino plates and now thinking of doing mix and match prints. Messed up my t-shirt test print but for a first attempt I'm not mad about it. Really want a relief printing press! #printmaking #linoprinting
As Bob Ross said 'There are no mistakes, only happy accidents.' More experiments in printmaking. What was an exercise in cutting straight lines, turned into an exercise on negative space but this design is growing on me. Not so happy accident - stabbing myself with the lino cutter! #textileart
After only one film in January and a filmless February, I've been on a bit of a rewatch flex this month. #lastfourwatched #LetterboxdFriday
I haven't written any more poems but I did turn a damaged canvas into a giant display board so I could see what progress I am making on this collection which should hopefully be done by the end of the month!
Sneaking on here very quickly to say I spent all my money on art classes and art supplies, so here is a reminder that I have art for sale that is also on sale! I only run a sale in March! #embroidery #textileart #fibreart #traditionalcrafts 🎨🧶🪡 folksy.com/find/item/84...
I've also really like Itaglio printing and now I have too many ideas but had fun making this one which I want to redo because we ended up with a bad batch of paper that didn't soak properly. #intaglio #etching #printmakers #printmaking
More adventures in printing class, we've moved onto block printing which is what I actually wanted to learn to use in my own work, so I recycled some old embroidery designs and making plans for the left over embroidery hoops. #reliefprinting #linoprinting #printmakers
My listings were set to expire today, so I decided to launch my yearly spring clean sale a few days early. I still have a few of these Twin Peak themed embroideries left, now at 30% off! folksy.com/find/item/84... #twinpeaks #embroidery #textileart #fibreart 🧶🪡
Maybe one day I'll actually do something with all this sea glass and pottery I've collected on my beach walks other than arrange it into aesthetically pleasing flat lays for the gram!
Look at this lil' cutie patootie having a little snooze in the midday sun 🧡 🦊
A brisk walk along the promenade with added snow flurries.❄️
