This drives me effing bonkers. Can we slay this tired trope that books demand more imagination than film? *Visually*, of course. A film shows us things a book does not. But a book *tells* us things a film does not — things only perceived by active, engaged, empathetic, imaginative viewers. (1/3)
...so when they enter the conversation, rather than haughtily informing a professional dining critic that there are a wondrous variety of dining cultures around the world, they politely clarify, so that any misunderstandings — should they exist — can be quickly and politely cleared up:
Gene & Jude's is my favorite hot dog. But Superdawg will always be my favorite hot dog stand.
So, my wife got a set of cat toys as an offering to her sister’s family’s cat, who we are visiting this weekend. It includes corn, eggplant, chile pepper, carrot and……. what the hell is that?
Woooooo, busy day. Guess I’ll check in on how the Cubs are do— Okay, then.
Got into a discussion with a friend re: ‘80s nerd culture as it was then and as it is marketed now and totally didn’t uncover any lingering trauma or anything.
I know people get huffy about pimento cheese with red bell pepper. And I get it, but tell you what: For those of us who can’t get fresh pimentos — which is most of us — pimento cheese with fresh roasted bell peppers is WAY better than jarred pimentos. Don’t let dogma get in the way of what’s good.

Oh man. I really didn’t want it to be José Andrés, but the law is the law.
Anyone who looks at my stats and thinks to themselves, "Hmmm... I think I'll give him the maximum number of points for the food question," DESERVES to lose.
“Forget sharing the last picture you saved, I want to see the very first picture on your phone. Scroll back until your fingers bleed.” Both the first in my library and the oldest. The corpse of the mobster who was shot dead in the apartment I lived in from 2004-2007. No joke.
Dumbass online restaurant reviews chapter 4,273: Uhhhh... steak frites?
When people ask why I spend a lot less time writing about food on social media than I used to, I should just send them this as Exhibit A:
Also: I think one of the great truisms of home VO studios is that they look a lot less badass from a slightly different angle or with the curtain pulled away.
New home studio is READY FOR ACTION. Now I just need somebody to hire me :-D
This is how the scissors elite discourage first-time scissors ownership.
And while, as a Cubs fan, I am obligated to revere Epstein, OMFG, Theo, you are staring RIGHT through the trees here, man! To wit: Stellar defensive play isn't *robbing* us of action and drama. Stellar defensive play ***IS*** action and drama!!! Baseball is more than just hits! (3/4)
