Also got to see the Museum of Youth Culture in Camden, most of which is hidden away in the basement. Once you find it, it’s really good - especially the exhibit about teenage lies.

Annoying that @london.gov.uk's new London Plan has come up with a map showing affordable housing levels that simply can't be read by the colour-blind (ie, me). I think I understand it after looking at it on a big screen and looking really closely, but having no explanatory text really is poor.

Mad that councils have to go cap in hand to the government to bid for money to... clean chewing gum off the pavement.

Bexley secures more funding to clean up gum in the Borough

Thanks to the Council’s successful bid for external funding, we’ll be tackling the sticky issue of chewing gum in Northumberland Heath, Nuxley Road and Picardy Street in Belvedere and on Blackfen Road.

We have been awarded £27,063.00 for the cleanup. In addition, the Council will invest in new cleaning equipment to remove gum that can be reused well into the future.

This is the third grant that we have been awarded by the Chewing Gum Task Force grant scheme that was established by Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs).

Winning these additional funds follows a successful cleanup in Bexleyheath Town Centre in autumn 2024 and a gum cleanup in Sidcup High Street and at Sidcup Station in summer 2025.

Cllr Rags Sandhu, Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Culture and Leisure said:

“Keeping Bexley clean and green is a top priority for the Council and this third phase of gum clean-up activity funded by officers providing a valid and established business case for these external funds, along with our investment in new cleaning equipment, will help make our Borough a greener place to live in and an attractive place for visitors and businesses to thrive”.

ACCORDING TO GEORGE BEST he looks like Jake the Peg, according to the Charlton Athletic fans he looks like a cheat and according to Chris Perry he is a foreigner with tricks up his sleeve who falls over a little too often. Cristiano Ronaldo certainly makes opponents fume and in a match that plodded for much of the time, the Portugal international at least added some drama. Ronaldo was jeered throughout. It became predictable. The lad would receive the ball, burst forward and step over the ball not once, not twice but often four or five times before attempting to beat his man.
That man was more often than not Radostin Kishishev. “He was twisted up a bit,” Perry said of his fellow defender. Kishishev’s tackles at times missed Ronaldo and the ball altogether but any contact usually saw Ronaldo tumble.
“One or two times when you go down it might be legitimate,” Perry, on loan from Tottenham Hotspur, said, “but I think he went down five or six times in the the game and certainly not every single one saw him caught.”
From Manchester United’s perspective, though, the 18-year-old simply dazzles. Best, watching the game for Sky, thought he was worth the entrance money on his own. “It looked like he had three legs out there.”
Of course, English fans have always harboured a mistrust of overseas players who invite tackles. “Other players have come over from foreign countries and started off like that — they tend to get it (knocked) out of them eventually,” Perry said. “It’s a foreign thing.”
